Where are you all?
Everytime i go to a party, club, rave, whatever you wanna call it, everyone i meet is either way older than me, or at least the age of my older brothers/sisters. It’s cool, it’s just it seems to me there’s a lack of the new generation of true party heads.
I got chatting a really nice lady at the free london beach party, and we agreed there needs to be more people like me, of my age,(hear me out, i’m not being that big headed, lol) that are there for the vibe, the music,to meet new people,to have a good time etc, and that a lot of people were there just for a free party. Don’t get me wrong i know most of the people were there for the same reasons as me. But the people i chatted to with my perspective were in a different generation or a good few years older.
I always hear people sayin’ “the 80s/90s was great for partying” and i’m sure it was, but i don’t wanna wish i was there back then (even if i sometimes do), i wanna make what they had then-what i mean is you see groups of ten 26 year olds going clubbing to see some quality music, or whatever, but never a big group of new ravers. (not nu ravers, lol)Oh and i’ve mostly been to psy-trance partys, as it’s my fav music, so i’m kinda reffering to them i guess..?
Sorry if i’m going on a bit here..
Am i making any sense?Or have i just not found you yet, lol, be nice to meet some true party-goers of my generation, that’s all.
May 26, 2008 at 7:46 pm #1172831yeah I think psy-trance might often attract an older crowd, old hippies mostly :laugh_at:- there are people like Barclay / Dark Angel who could be my uncle (think he turned 50 a couple of years ago)
but its the opposite on other genres – where I live now (East Anglia) and if I go to a free party or underground event playing hard trance, breaks or hardcore breaks (the most popular genres round here) I’m often one of the oldest people in the group – most are in their teens/twenties…
the wider free party crowd is actually a lot younger than what it used to be, I think its become a sort of “gap year” thing now from age 16-21 and then people go uni or get full time jobs and start winding it down a bit….
May 26, 2008 at 7:52 pm #1172845im your age. theres no young peopel at free parties cause they shouldnt be there. i think anyone whos younger than 17/18 shouldnt be there. saw a kid who musta been about 13 this weekend stumbling round with k dribblin down his face…not good

doing mushrooms at 15 is enough for me thanks, real eye opener… or somethnig like that.
May 26, 2008 at 8:04 pm #1172832started drugs at age 15 but didn’t go raving till age 19 (although drugs were harder to get back then)
I think that although youths what do “too much too young” don’t drop dead or go mad, they do tend to burn out a lot quicker and by their late teens/early 20s aren’t enjoying parties any more
if you pace yourself you can keep going for years (where do you think all the older ravers come from?)
actually its just dawned on me that when I lived in Thatcham, Random_impulse wasn’t even born.. (bah, I feel really old now!)

May 26, 2008 at 8:16 pm #1172843our mate we party with has been partying sinse he was 11 living in wales, he’s still going at nearly 18 recently moved here and ive ever met anyone with so much passion and energy for the free party scene, i think he’ll be forever playing music and partying.
shouldnt matter if your 14 or 50, as long as you’re at the party because you love everything about it and treat everything around you and yourself with respect.
ive met people all manner of ages and backgrounds at parties, most are sound as fuck, and pretty much all them couldnt talk for days on end about why the love parties.
May 26, 2008 at 8:18 pm #1172833I’ve met several generations of the same family at Norfolk parties, some people go with their mums and dads :laugh_at:

May 26, 2008 at 8:23 pm #1172844ive met loads of people who party with parents and kids, specially round the wales and forest of dean area.
round here you only get kids at the smaller little hippy parties, some of the larger rigs can be a ketamine fest and not good for taking children too.

yep that does (or did) happen here with the fluffier parties.
some parents have to be careful though, its fine if the parents are still together but my mate nearly got done by social services because he took his son to one of our parties in Reading (it was a squat party but a well run one with a small friendly crowd) and his ex found out and grassed on him to the authorities :hopeless:
Its strange though as I think small children aren’t at any major risk but when youths are aged 10-16 is when its a bit of a risk as they could end up regularly doing drugs a lot earlier than may be desireable… (apart from the slightly greater health risks to a growing body, its the risk of not doing well at education, as I know when I started doing drugs as a teen I couldn’t be fucked with studying any more)
