      Right e ho …

basically I am moving to nottingham and currently looking for a new job, i have been offered an interview at a very well known finance company. only problem i have not worked in this sector before, ive been in retail since i was 13 so dont no quite how to go at it … how to present myself, what their looking for etc.

the job is in the complaints department on the phones …

at the assessment i have to do a role-play, group discussion and a one on one interview … i havent done any of this before so any help or tips appreciated,

      many smiles,

      me 🙂

Smart and tidy; you arent front of house so presentation has to fit the workplace not project the companies image. You could go and stand outside at clocking off time and see what they all wear and then wear something smarter for the job interview?

A calm helpful and not getting wound up attitude is likely to be what they want for their complaints section – joe public can be really ignorant when they ring in with complaints. They will likely want to know if you are able to recognise when you are out of your depth as well [well I would in their shoes] and therefore know when to ask for help.

Cant help you with one on one interviews – I have been self employed all my life but others will be able to 😉

Get familiar with the terms in use in the job and know what they mean to as that will be a real help :weee:

A tip for interviews is to imagine the interviewer wearing erotic underwear.

Are you going through and agency? If so you could ask them for some question they are likely to ask so you can think about soem good responses. I once had a finance job through an agency and they gave me a list of 20 questions which really helped.

If not just type ‘interview qusetions’ in google.

                                Good luck anyways raaa

interview questions are often fairly standard for these kinds of jobs

give an example of how you dealt with a difficult customer (apologising, listening, reassuring, empathising, recording all the details of the problem clearly, remaining calm, remaining assertive but never being aggressive)

tell us how you work as part of a team / why team work is important (we all need support to achieve our goals together, share common goals, you are also able to work on own initiative and motivation)

something about what communication skills you have (good listening skills include reflecting back what has been said to you to make sure you understand and help the customer know you are listening, good written and oral skills)

something about what are you strengths and weaknesses. strengths; say reliable, accurate & hard working, weaknesses; say something like I work too hard or am a perfectionist

something about IT skills (using databases etc)

and probably why do you want this job / work for this company… if you actually don’t give a fuck about the job / company say something like you believe you have the skills and potential to be an excellent employee. don’t say you want to develop skills or get training as this sounds like you don’t know what you’re doing yet (unless they specifically ask if you are willing to do training, in which case say yes). and defo don’t say you are thrilled by finance if you’re not, they will know that you’re lying unless you’re studying economics or have lots of experience etc

                                  good luck

it is through an agency but not an agency like reed or blue arrow, they literally have one person at their office in touch with a guy at welcome finance’s office and they literally just tell them they have someone, the girl at the agency was helpful but i think that was just off her own bat

                                        and cheers mate 🙂
