May 25, 2006 at 6:44 pm #1074918Whilst I find your avatar quite…..complelling I havent yet plucked up the courage to PM u 😉
I have recently recieved a random PM which struck me as a little odd along the lines of ” a saw yuor profile and u loooed interesting…send me a mail at *******@yahoo.com and I’ll get in touch and send a pic” suspected it was a bit random but sent a mail asking what it was all about from a hotmail account and receieved what is clearly the staring of a scam ….”i live in Senagal etc etc”
Is this what u got ???
May 25, 2006 at 6:47 pm #1074915I’ve made your post private hope you understand and thanks for mentioning it, I’ll get back to you on the content. I’m sure you know you to be careful online talking to people you don’t know online especially given the fun loving nature of our familiar SJ trolls…
By way of a general reminder…
On the suject of abusive or inapropriate behabviour:
Although we make every effort to keep our community in order the following rules are worth bearing in mind if you ever have a problem with another user’s behaviour:
Rule one: Don’t have anything to do with the person in question.
Rule two: Keep a record of what happens (emails, private messages, posts, etc…).
Rule three: Tell a member of staff about it right away.May 25, 2006 at 6:55 pm #1074925Anonymousah ok, i wondered where my post went. tee hee. it’s all just a bit too wierd tbh. if these peopel actually had posts it woudl be ok, but it seems they register jsut to be wierd.

May 26, 2006 at 9:13 am #1074916I think I’ve sussed this out
When people want to send spam messages like this they often start with the members lists. Those who use characters like “*” in their user names come first because of the way computers process text
“*” is represented by code 42 and “A” is represented by code 65 so “*” comes before “A” in a list of text items on a computer when they are sorted in alphabetical order.
which is why those of you whose user names start with “*” or “A” are more likely to get this sort of stuff..
May 26, 2006 at 9:22 am #1074926Anonymouswhat about if i changed my name to ¬*¬??? <<altho that looks shit.
