November 17, 2012 at 3:26 am #1262594Tossup between Pink Floyd and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I got the Floyd from my dad cos he’d let me sit in his office at home while an LP played and I arsed around with legos. Got into RHCP from the tele, they were well good back then.
Good times.

Brian Harvey has provided an astonishing explanation for the bizarre and terrifying accident in which he was run over by his own Mercedes… claiming it was caused by a meal of three giant baked potatoes smothered in tuna mayonnaise and cheese. Harvey, speaking for the first time about the incident that nearly cost him his life, says he fell under the car as he leant out of the driver’s door to be sick because he had eaten so much – and the Mercedes rolled over him

November 17, 2012 at 1:13 pm #1262608Placebo, Marlin Manson, NIN, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, Deftones.
Least they were the fist albums I bought (To be fair I still like most of those albums); other than that just stuff my dad liked eg. Pink Floyd.

didn’t really listen to music other than what my dad played when I was 7 as far as I recall. Not sure I have ever been cool TG.

Lol!! That’s more on a par with wham! ;p
I guess I was little early 80’s so I’ve got a huge choice of ‘pop’ artists to choose from
Loved music always, I think this may be because top of the pops was just so big then, but also mum and dad in to music

This is why I think this thread may be interesting, as its a reflection of how popular music has changed,
As it was all either shite happy pop or the likes of spandal ballet or Duran Duran or Adam ant when I was growing up, loved Adam ant and Duran, wasn’t a fan of spandalNovember 17, 2012 at 2:07 pm #1262613@p0ly 507012 wrote:

Trads weren’t adverse to a bit of Adam ant either for that matter.

November 17, 2012 at 2:25 pm #1262581never been a fan of bands as such, just as well as most of the music stars of my childhood have been proven to be creepy egotistical nonces.
that said even at age 6/7 I was fascinated by the music of Jeanne Michelle Jarre, Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder etc…
November 17, 2012 at 2:38 pm #1262615November 17, 2012 at 2:52 pm #1262590Jean Michelle jarre… Oh yes! But this is my parents influence and osibisi (?sp) and boney m, and the bee gees disco etc

The record shop in this vid is still going strong after all these years!
November 17, 2012 at 6:50 pm #1262597Earliest music I remember playing by my own choice, as in my own tape deck, cassette copied off a friend, was probably the Beastie Boys Licence to Ill when I was 10yo ( Mid 80s ), and I played that tape to death, first on my mono ( thats right single speaker ) tape deck that I used to load up games on my Speccy with, then on my first walkman while riding my first BMX
Fav song was probably Paul Revere, but of course with friends we would proper shout out You Gotta Fight.. for your right…. to Paaaaaaarty lol
