what ever the dj finds easier to manipulate, if hes having problems with the equipment, he should change his stuff, so it does not effect the toones, as long as the music is banging raaa

that was a bit of cop-out though :laugh_at:
Lol, the lynching a DJ would get for doing that is not worth the risk, but l see what you mean.

April 25, 2007 at 11:34 am #1103519AnonymousIt’s nice to hear someone say they have disdain for Laptop DJs, as l worry about it myself sometimes, l think the seat of my angst is in that the computer is at least an equal partner, at most the one in charge.
Scratch-mixing isn’t possible, and the fine ingenuity of a DJ’s eye/ear to hand co-ordination doesn’t come into it. I mean, the DJ can’t listen to the music or see the crowd, and then translate that into his movements on scratching the vinyl. He isn’t a figurehead any more. Ppl like a leader l guess, something to lean on.
Mind you, scratching the vinyl is the only logical problem l can think of. Sentimentalism is silly, so l suppose if the scratching problem were overcome, then goodbye vinyl!
There’s an interesting post on vinyl emulation here:

Kit such as this allows you to connect your turntable to a PC and scratch the WAVs or mp3s that way. Apparently there’s still some way to go…
Oh by the way, has anyone’s comp ever frozen during a Laptop DJing performance??
Please keep your opinions coming, no matter what they are!
April 25, 2007 at 11:36 am #1103520AnonymousOh yeah, l realise you can scratch CDs, l’ve never tried it, dunno if it works like vinyl, l doubt it can, l mean with vinyl you can really spin the record and release it and it slows down, you know it’s got a real dynamism to it.
And l’m not sure you can do what you can on a laptop, on a CD deck instead.
April 25, 2007 at 12:00 pm #1103533Saw roni size once and he was using a laptop but he had it wired to the deck so he could just select a tune and it would come through the vinyl. Fuck knows how but it looked good. Was bringin in tunes left right and center proper quick at the click of a button. Think he had scratchin samples on there too. Think DJ craze does somthin similar.

DynamicDon’tPanic wrote:And l’m not sure you can do what you can on a laptop, on a CD deck instead.for me i need decks, cd or vinyl in front of me, i believe if you have a laptop it looks like its doing it all for you which most likely it isnt but gives that impression … there just isnt something right about laptops in the set-up unless their burning cds at a million miles an hour for me … then again one day i will have to introduce a laptop into my live act with the new project i am creating … i shall give in then 😉
