graffiti is all about love for the art, no money involved (apart from banksy) and the artists risk their own freedom to do it, plus you dont have to pay money to go see an awsome piece,
dont know many ‘traditional’ artists, i like escher and whoever did the artwork for the machina album by smashing pumpkins, vassilly something

In many cases they are passing on the costs of their learning process to the rest of society (in clean up costs).
If people stuck to genuinely ugly abandoned walls or made better use of existing features (like what Banksy does) that would be fine but again I think theres a lack of self control – taggers often vandalise normal peoples business premises and even private property and give everyone a bad name.
