My favourite poet is William Blake, I love his “Songs of Innocence and Experience”, they are timeless.

Ironic as I have 2 A grades in English O levels from 1987 (yes, I did do those early) but I think the pressure of getting these and reading books just to pass exams/do essays has actually killed much of my desire to read fiction even 19 years later.
strangely enough I enjoy reading anything else though…
but if I had to choose my top author it would probably be Spike Milligan (his poems, plays, mad ramblings and his war memoirs which are IMO despite their bizzareness some of the most effective writings on World War II).
