i am going to be in the market for new headphones
/me sighs
due to serious abuse of the headphones we havei am looking for something fairly indestructible to allow them to survive our abuses but something with full cans and that sounds good too [nothing too difficult then]
the current ones are sony mdr-v500 but they are not really tough enough:hopeless:
any suggestions?

NoName has wrecked / lost about 8 pairs of my headphones including the ones a friend made for me
😥 its never malicious but consistently annoyingmy new criteria is good sound reproduction and indestructible….
as none of the ones i have had so far have survived the experience i am looking for advice/me sighs
for your reference the sony ones are not NoName proof 😥
July 4, 2006 at 2:30 pm #1081001I’m going to go all ‘stuck up’ here:
Sennheiser HD25
Sound quality
Durability
WeightThey win hands down. Everything is replaceable too.
July 4, 2006 at 2:43 pm #1081005Don’t like em the cups are too small…
July 4, 2006 at 2:47 pm #1081002I can see what you mean. I don’t like it when the cups encompass your whole ear though. Damages your ear as there is no pressure release.
It doesn’t effect comfort or volume though as far as I can tell. I’ve never had to turn them up full blast and I’m quite deaf 🙂
July 4, 2006 at 3:56 pm #1081007Anonymousi know bugger all about it, but these look nice:
seems like these lot have a good selection:
http://www.djkit.co.uk/acatalog/headphones.htmlJuly 4, 2006 at 5:15 pm #1081010i have tended to go for larger cups but those ones look interesting Biotech – mostly the totally replaceable bits:wink:
how tough are they in practice? have you [aaargh] dropped them, sat on them, put something heavy down on top of them?
your link was good too USE
i am bookmarking the links for research:groucho::groucho:

I have dropped them plenty of times. The design and weight of them means they just kinda bounce. For these to snap you’d have to drop them off the empire state building and I’d still be suprised if they broke to be honest.
Heavy things: They live in my record box when I play out and it gets lugged and chucked about. So 80 odd records is a fair old test weight to show that they are fairly indestructable. Many people say they are flimsy but that’s what makes them so resiliant to damage if that makes sense. They are a bit like those bendy glasses you see advertised on TV.

Never used them. The only downside I can see immediately would be the constant purchase of batteries I suppose. Not too fun when you have to replace them each week before you play out. Or they run out of power half way through a set and you forgot to pick up some spares.

(Mhz) just off the end of the UHF TV frequencies.
They are therefore susceptible to external interference sources such as bouncers/club management personal radios; taxicab sets; mobile phones and the old bills airwave radios (the last two will create an annoying buzzing sound in the cans!)
July 4, 2006 at 5:57 pm #1081011that would be bloody irritating :get_you::get_you::get_you:
thats persuaded NoName they are not so shiny:wink:
