looking for decent quality wavs (not that clipped shite that Biotech posted!) – if they are £1.99 its not exactly breaking the bank compared to vinyl… soulseek is getting a bit bait (and British Telecom have worked out how to choke it at peak times) plus I’d rather support some of the newer artists and also expand my genres a bit (for instance i tend to download mostly old skool and euphoric trance as I don’t knoiw who the older track names/artists are (the fact these artists are my age or older might also be a factor :laugh_at:)
Where are the best places to get these from? Might even start expanding into breaks/electro but as I gave up trainspotting tunes years ago have no idea who are the decent artists to get stuff from..
October 27, 2011 at 1:45 pm #1245983If you want any drum and bass (If I got it on vinyl) I’d happily record it for you.
October 27, 2011 at 1:45 pm #1245984£29.99 (not quite £30 so it’s ok)
October 28, 2011 at 9:01 am #1245982Amazon Music is actually pretty good (and pretty cheap).
You could also try one of these:
Dance Downloads, MP3 & WAV Music Tracks at Juno Download
Beatport(Da missus loves junodownload for searching, but usually ends up purchasing from Amazon because they are a bit cheaper)
You could also try searching on Soundcloud for artists or genres, there is LOTS of free music available on there (plenty of artists release their stuff for free so its 100% legit) and if its not free, they usually have a link to where you can purchase (usually either beatport or itunes).
Hope this helps
October 28, 2011 at 9:04 am #1245985there’s quite a lot of FLAC torrent albums to be found with google searches. that torrent site the pirate bay or something like that has a lot of good electronic music torrents.

Zippyshare.com – Louie Cut – Fat Bee (Original Mix)(house-music-exlusive.blogspot.com).mp3
November 1, 2011 at 12:47 pm #1245972Cheers dude – I’ll give it a try, normally MP3s I can get by the usual (naughty) means but the current method I use is clearly being locked off and this one really is decent speed (I won’t go into the boring details of why unless anyone really wants to know but its fairly obvious if you know how computer networks operate).
if I’m gonna buy stuff though Its wavs I’m after and decent ones too – not those apallingly clipped ones biotech ended up with, and ended up berating the distribution company for (and he is normally a easygoing peaceful chap).
Those were the ones what were so bad both me and cheesweasel read the waveform wrongly as we thought they colours were switched on biotechs software. I daren’t even show that to some older sound engineering chaps I know, wouldn’t want to be responsible for someones dad/grandad going into Papworth for the weekend…
I think I’ve found some wavs for £1.75 which seems fair enough – my ears are in good shape for a older chap and I’m fussy about getting good quality sound when I can 😉
That said the minimal tune you posted really is good quality for a MP3 (although I think the genre may have a lot to do with this).

If the sound quality of the sample on the site sounds bad then don’t buy it, thats normally what you get.
November 2, 2011 at 10:11 pm #1245976I want the original whatever the online world choose, so I track down the source and get me a cd or vinyl.
November 2, 2011 at 10:43 pm #1245973I would hope that a 44k wav and the contents off the CD are the same thing (it should be the same data!). Unlike a lot of DJ’s in more recent times I don’t have CDJs and went directly to digital. transferring my vinyl collection also takes an age these days..
Plus the main CD distribution place for my bit of England and all its stock (including many independent dance labels) got burned to the ground in the riots earlier this year…
November 2, 2011 at 11:00 pm #1245977I still wont buy recorded stuff digital/virtual, I want to have the total command in how it should be become digital/viritual…but thats me.
November 3, 2011 at 12:03 am #1245974After those files biotech got I can understand, plus something else I saw on one site which made me dubious about what they might be doing to the sound, but not living in a capital city I don’t even think there are any genuine specialist music shops left in town any more! Actually I did find one but its now gone mail order only so even for buying CD’s or vinyl it works out cheaper to get them sent from London (about 100km away), plus they don’t seem to have the genres I want
I’ll have a chat with Biotech too as he must know who the good suppliers are..
November 3, 2011 at 12:23 am #1245978Give me some genres and i will go in hunt for you for the sources 😉
November 3, 2011 at 12:35 am #1245990beatport+juno
November 3, 2011 at 12:41 am #1245989i’ve used juno, beatport, djdownload and emusic.
on emusic they give you 30 pounds worth of free music and tracks are cheap, i only paid 10 pound for an extra tenner on top for a months subscription. 40 pounds worth of music, noooiceeee.
November 3, 2011 at 12:47 am #1245979But most online store are just for consumption not pro use

Aye, what Titch said. I use Beatport mainly as it has a good selection of Breaks, DnB and (good) dubstep. And yeah, you can tell a lot from the sample clip. I’ve learned to look at the waveform they show you in the sample and if it looks heavily clipped and distorted then the chances are that the main file will be too.
I think there are cheaper places and if you are looking for more underground and diverse stuff though, then beatport might not be the best place.
