Earliest CD is about all I can remember. It was Smashing Pumpkins – Siamese Dream. Still Love it.

For my own hard earned money(It was my first summer job, picked strawberries for 3 weeks….) it was ‘Scary Monsters’ by David Bowie the summer it was released, looong time ago, in vinyl of course no other option at that time.
Single? hmm I think it was same summer; a 12′ of ‘Just cant get enough’ by Depeche Mode

Nice. My wife absolutely loves that band. She got to see them live when they toured for Meloncholy And The Infinite Sadness. Not a fan of the last album. =

I think my first purchased taped album was screamadelica (?sp) primal scream

and I think the first single was either ‘stop’ by sam brown, or ‘lily was here by’…… err, the bloke out of the eurythmics? – cant remember

but one of my all time favorite pressies was WHAM the final double tape given to me by my brother for my …..9th? birthday, I fucking loved WHAM!!!! raaaraaaraaaraaa

Cant’ remeber the first single …. but the first album was “now” something or another. I got it cos shaggy – Mr boombastic was on it, but fell in love with SL2 on a ragga tip (the song after) and got into rave music from then on! 😀

We got electric back our way in 1976, and awhile afterwards mother and a couple of my eldest sisters went into town to buy a tv, i was really excited as they walked towards the house with a big box and came in with a record player, and we sat around listening to an old boxed collection by Nat King Cole and a Ray Charles greatest hits album as these were the only albums we had, seriously, i kid you not
