I got this, we don’t do bad sound quality in my household fortunately. Don’t know the specs for the speakers but they run through 3 amps with a fourth portable amp we can run them through aswell. That’s only half the CD’s we own on the right, aswell as there being quite a big vinyl collection..

February 23, 2013 at 5:38 pm #1267694Yeah my speakers are 16 years old, but technics and FUUUUUUUUCCCCKED
February 23, 2013 at 6:00 pm #1267691Sony 2 channel AV amp feeding JBL control 1 speakers. This is an interesting mix of modern digital control systems and old skool Japanese analogue electronics. In effect a modern version of a 1990s era hi fi system. I suspect the amp section is an old AIWA design as although the amp does not have country of origin mark the way the manual is written and that it has a 2 pin Europlug for the mains 230V hints that it is made in Malaysia (Sony bought the AIWA factories there about 15 years ago).
(The rest of the sound sources are in the DJ equipment thread)
February 23, 2013 at 8:17 pm #1267707I’ll try find the specs for the speakers/amps either tommorow or monday.
In my room I got a pair of Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II which I run my xbox/tv through (Xbox sounds sooo much better.. TV’s sound so tinny and horrible to me now) and can also run my laptop/iPod through same as the main hi fi and also can use the portable amp with them.

Unfortunately the sound transmitted with most TV shows has gone completely to shit (TBH so has the picture in many respects). I was a broadcast engineer (as a main job) in the late 1990s and the quality control was better then than it is now, digital transmission has been used to send more channels down the same circuits (with horrendous levels of both audio and video compression) rather than improve quality.
Creative are based in Singapore (a small island bit at the bottom of Malaysia which used to be part of the country but split away from it) and are good at getting a lot into a small space.
This is a famous video of one of their products from the mid 2000s which was a USB keyboard for typing and MIDI keyboard

March 1, 2013 at 5:58 pm #1267695Some gammy trust 5.1 surround sound thing, the bass drive is potent but they have just that bit too much treble to them. I’ll take a picture of them in a bit and post it, don’t feel human enough to bother yet lol

Sorry, I was indeed baked. I have a pair of Monitor Audio Studio 2 SE’s and at the moment I’m driving them with a crappy 5.1 processor amp cos my Technics one blew up.
