What kinds of music really get your back up and why?
May 2, 2013 at 12:42 pm #1272857Silly children sing about things they are to young to know anything about
Name recognition nonsense when soap stars & other celebs make songs to cash in before they are forgotten
Rappers that take themselves seriously, you know what they say, cant dance, cant sing, cant play an instrument….. thats when you rap lol
May 2, 2013 at 1:47 pm #1272868Dubstep, sounds like they grabbed a bunch of kids and let them wreak havoc in a toy shop with all the buttons and horrible noises.
May 2, 2013 at 1:58 pm #1272843Some urban tracks and performances which glamorise violence / conflict, and give working class music fans and minority groups a bad image (especially as we lost a good venue in my town due to violent incidents caused by MC’s whipping up tensions between Londoners and locals). It is really no better than hard right wing skinhead music.
May 2, 2013 at 2:50 pm #1272858Bro-step (like skrillex and modestep)
That synthy club music that has that robotic rap over the top of it. (will i am/ lady gaga)I also can’t stand a lot of kiddies sing-songs. Kids are perfectly capable of listening to adult music (with the exeption to naughty lyrics)
This is why Im fond of rastamouse. (The music production is spot on and the stop motion animation is done well…not to mention quite good plots and moral values)May 2, 2013 at 2:51 pm #1272859@General Lighting 544400 wrote:

Lots of EDl/ bnp members claim to be skinheads and love their ska music.
Are they fucking stupid or what?May 2, 2013 at 3:12 pm #1272844@Izbeckistan 544404 wrote:

Are they fucking stupid or what? Not stupid but envious of ethnic culture, they do accept it provided they are in control. It plays into a stereotype that blacks are only good for music and sports (like “nigger minstrel” type characters now discouraged from modern culture, though rather ironically certain urban artists actually play up to a modern version of this stereotype).
Often you will find the EDL/BNP types do eat ethnic food etc but are the sort of muppets what try to control/dominate the waiters and staff at a night out especially in fast food places etc.
I’ve also known middle class people in cosmopolitan areas with racist views who have entire collections of multicultural music and genuine knowledge of the music, culture and background. They of course will not be as overtly racist as your average knuckledragger which I think is worse as its more insidious as that kind of hidden hate has more power. Its the sort of person who will get a management job, look a BME candidate in the eye and shake their hand, make them fill out a long application form then as soon as they are out the door tear it into pieces behind their backs with a big smile on their face.

Racism is really prominant in the UK but like you said its more insidious and passive aggresive.
A lot of people in my family (well step-family) have taken to voting Ukip. If you ask them the definition of racism they think its calling people names and starting fights. They think wanting the UK to be exclussivly (or maybe just predominantly) white british is not racist.Tbf though they are fisherman and the EU do not treat them to well, and of course they blame immigrants for the lack of jobs.
May 2, 2013 at 3:45 pm #1272845It is a problem all across EU to be fair, (27 nations will never agree totally on things and everyone n rural areas thinks the other nations are doing better out of EU, but the alternative was actually warfare, until the EU/EEC arrived and got stronger as well as WW II there were naval skirmishes between European nations even in my living memory. Europeans have regularly gone to war with each other in the last 3 centuries over trade embargoes and perceived resource inequality.
On that note I do notice when listening to North European folk music occasional links to white nationalism type stuff and very subtle coded pro-nazi messages from some folk commenting on youtube videos from WW II era. it is only if you not just know their languages but think “outside the box” (and have an interest in European military history) that you realise what they are putting across (as overt nazi messages will get their comments censored and if they are from DE they will be tracked down via a Court Order to Google and ultimately arrested, NL tolerates more “free speech”)
so the only music I hate is “hate music”…..
May 2, 2013 at 5:36 pm #1272872Crap chart music like Gangnam style, Rihanna etc.
Slipstreem – We Are Raving. I’m well gutted that got named the other day, curiosity killed the cat init.
May 2, 2013 at 7:16 pm #1272850I hate all music that caries the commercial brand It is a load of over compressed crap that is made strictly to make money. Music is an art form and shouldn’t be abused but pricks like Wil.i.am and all those other cash cow “producers”

I try to refrain from hating on celebs (basically because I don’t know them)
but god damn I hate that Will i am cunt.
I think its partly to do with the hair. He seems to me missing a pizza slice size of hair.May 2, 2013 at 7:55 pm #1272864Mainstream music like Katy Perry and ghetto rap like Lil wayne. Also country is like nails on a chalkboard
May 2, 2013 at 8:02 pm #1272870I fucking HATE mainstream rappers like Lil Wayne probably even above the shitty club music that’s played. Tbh i stay away from the charts all together and do my best to block it out when i am forced to hear it

We grew up with it in our family, even though I was born in London and my parents are Asian! Dad especially loved it, and wanted to be a cowboy (he had the hat, boots and would have had a real pistol were they allowed in the UK (they are not, so he had to make do with airguns)). This is in spite of him being born in Penang which is an island in Malaysia.
My younger sister likes a lot of it and even plays and sings it (she is very talented at playing guitar and singing). Curiously though I don’t mind the Dutch version of it which their pirate radio stations play as I can improve my Dutch listening to it (its funny as in NL today mainstream stations play trance and pirate stations play folk music whereas it is the other way round here in UK).

I do appreciate people who can play it, that’s true talent. I didn’t know there was dutch version of country… lol, I wonder what that sounds like.
I think I hate it so much just because my friends used to listen to it SO much that I heard it over and over again and got sick of it.

May 2, 2013 at 10:29 pm #1272852what is now called RnB
I used to love RnB but not his ‘modern stuff’, and I’m not a huge fan of ‘grindcore’ or ‘death metal’
apart from that I like lots of styles from disco, metal, industrial, house, minimal. dub, country, reggae, DnB, Psy and some pop
May 2, 2013 at 10:43 pm #1272871RnB & all that shitty club music with the same boring synths that seems to be played all the time on the radio.
May 2, 2013 at 10:58 pm #1272866May 3, 2013 at 2:29 am #1272856Country & Western. It’s not the musicians, it’s the fans. Racist, redneck and retarded.
Although I should really apologise to retards for comparing them with C & W fans…

very much the same as it does in USA – think about where all your rural folk came from in the first place. Though some other tracks have more of “oompah band” sounds in them and accordions…

these are the lyrics, they are about the life of John the Joker (he was always joking and laughing and played pranks on everyone)
Dertig leraren kwamen en gingen weer even vlug
