July 6, 2012 at 6:13 pm #1255634It’s ok for fun and a slight cardio workout, there are WAY better things to do to improve fitness and health though. Zoomba’s more about making it fun, what isn’t really ideal when actually trying to get properly fit, as it takes a fair bit of hard work to achieve it.
You wanna be doing things like HIIT and compound weight lifting if you are serious about getting fit/loosing weight. With the right program you can loose almost all your body fat (upto about 10-12% left) if you do it right. (any less and you’re ion body builder territory what isn’t really that healthy as you need a % of body fat).If you’re lazy and want something what will help, but not really make you fit if you do it only once a week, then zoomba’s ok for some healthy fun. If you did it every day, it’d help a lot more. Your metabolism will not raise unless you do hard workouts almost everyday though, and this is what’s really needed to burn fat. Cardio only burns fat whilst you are excersizing, you wanna set your metabolism up to be burning loads of calories even when you’re not excersizing. This means building more muscle to burn fuel and mixing up muscle building excersizes with high intensity interval training or something similer. This will make your body get used to needing a fuck load of calories, and as you have more muscle your body will need even more calories to power your muscles, so you’ll use alot more nrg, hence needing to eat MORE, and still lose weight! Unfortunately zoomba doesn’t have th same effect, it’t healthy, don’t get me wrong, and if you enjoy it, go for it, but It’s not the “magic” way to get fit like is advertised. It’s no more healther then going to a rave sober and having a dance. Once a week for an hour with this kinda excersize really isn’t gonna have a megga effect on your health. Again it helps, but no “amazing results” if that’s the only thing you do to “keep fit”.
