Hey guys,
I was just musing about music in another thread an started writing about why music is so important to me, an i started wondering what everyone else feels :question_ :question_ :question_
The most important part of the scene for me was always the music, with friends, outdoor adventures an drugs coming along close behind. ‘Rave’ music meant freedom, friends, originality, independance, strength, creativity, militancy probably, unity, communication, i could go on an on . . .
Music is at the very centre of me, no matter where i am, what i’m doing or who i’m with music always grounds me. If i’m feelin a bit lost music always brings me back to me.
Don’t get me wrong its also about dancin, stompin, flyin, screaming with the fun of it all night long and in through the dawn    but its also more . . .
How do you feel? what does music mean to you . . ? 😉
April 6, 2007 at 4:16 pm #1102459how strange I was reflecting on this the other day stuck on a traffic jam and was gonna start a thread
I was remembering the 1st time I was introduced to hendrix and led zep and how it was a sort of epithany moment in my young teenage life and how the music I am into has influenced my life / experiences
I love the way I can hear a tune and remember a place / person / experience and how it can totally lift or drop my mood – depending on what I want – I have a huge range of ‘styles’ I like and can pick specific bands / styles for what I want to feel
I would be lost with out it
April 6, 2007 at 5:27 pm #1102457Music is a way I use to reach all sorts of places 🙂
A place of peace in my head, a happy tranced out place when dancing, a high level of concentration when doing something [yep – I play it really loud when doing something complex :laugh_at:], a way of shoring myself up when I get a bit down and a way to express my anger in less destructive ways [nin – head like a holeraaa and the rest of that album], a great place when I am playing live with the Drum Clinic live PA and generally life would be less colourful without it
wouldnt want to be without it :noway:
April 6, 2007 at 6:10 pm #1102461Music for me is just about though not quite Everything:love:,cant imagine life without music of one sort or another:hopeless:

April 7, 2007 at 1:45 pm #1102463“one good thing about music, when it hits you… you feel no pain” to quote bob marley.
i can’t really answer the question. music is suppose is a part of me, and i’d like to believe it’s a part of everyone, from all walks of life. to answer the question properly would require either a degree in philosophy or one helluva acid trip :laugh_at:
April 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm #1102462I don’t believe in God.
I believe in music,as it wakes up some brain areas(or spiritual zones,if you prefere) wich allows you to live a little bit higher than everydays worries…
April 8, 2007 at 12:48 pm #1102467music means everyting to me , but when my bro is playing drums in the background when im hungover I HATE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

April 8, 2007 at 2:30 pm #1102468music can connect with an inner part of you that simple words cant i love that euthorik feelin if you get me drift……..
April 8, 2007 at 11:23 pm #1102464music means the world to me. its inspired me, helped me have the best times ever and made me realise who i am. music always knows just how i feel.
which makes me think…why is it humans that as a species realised a love for music? (maybe other species above a certain degree of intelligance/spirit appreciate a sly tune here and there-but getting back to the point-)
music; i suppose people have affinities for tunes or melodies because music after all is created by humans-therefore i can only guess its the feeling of being understood on a really basic core emotional level. emotions are fuel for creativity, and the artist essencially creates a kind of emotional ride, calculated to stimulate some sort of note inside you somehow-transfering the artists emotions in a plotted roller-coaster of melodies, beats, vocals…whatever. odd-all the artist is doing is getting it off their chest.
plus weve been at it for thousands of years-
av it you off key homosapians!
thoughts?April 9, 2007 at 8:48 am #1102466when i have my headphones on nothing else exists, i can listen to every synth and beat and not have to think about anything, i cant hear my phone, people shouting in my house and i forget for the length of the track the difficulties of everyday life
April 9, 2007 at 5:05 pm #1102470Music to me seems to be a wonderful and mysterious mistake.
I mean, think about it, first you have “Sound” which then gets broken up into “Sounds” and for a long time there is just this. Then, all of a sudden humans come along, and they start giving “sounds” names like “Note” or “Beat”. And when they start putting these “Sounds” “Notes” and “Beats” in certain orders, all of the sudden we got music:crazy:!!! And it is not just any mish mash of “Sounds” that create this music, but seemingly a specific yet infinate set of orders or patterns. WOW, what the fuck!
My personal relationship with music is love/hate. When I got new stuff, or old tunes played at the right times it is perfect. But when everything sounds old and I can’t find anything new, then it frustrates the hell out of me.

:satisfied :satisfied :satisfied I was thinking that its a bit spiritual for me when I started the thread, there’s some interconnectedness that music touches, or is, or something, I don know, like Boothy said philospohy degree or decent acid! By the way Ogga were you/ are you doing either of these when writing?! some nice thoughts there.
Like Tank Girl i remember the first time i heard something musical that stunned me, something so unlike anything i’d heard so far, a defining moment. Can’t remember which album but the band was Gong or Gong Maison, ring any bells for anyone? It coincided with my first bucket bong so . . . my little brain just went pppfffttttt! never been the same since! :laugh_at:
An we are the only ones who have/make music arent we?! never really considered that before, just tried to imagine my cat dancing . . . hhhmmmm the mind boggles ! ! ! :laugh_at: :laugh_at: :laugh_at:
Nice thoughts from everyone, made me smile. Tis wonderful stuff aint it!
April 13, 2007 at 5:50 pm #1102465cheers, tarifa
