well i bought some homeless geezer who begs downtomn a vegetable slice and gave him change every so often.
and you would never guess what…
i was just chillin’ on the hill (kinda right in the center of town-ish) and i noticed this bloke walking passed me wearing nice clothes that i myself would buy.
no prizes for guessing who it was. also he had himself one hell of a tan.
i think he went to tenerife, personnally:weee:!
fake bums are a piss-take, man. no doubt they make it harder for the people that are less priviliged-makes people think twice.
anyone had any fake bum incidents?
it’s not so true now, cos cops & politicians have tries to stamp it out, but 10 year ago, loads of ‘voluntary’ homeless would come to Exeter in the summer time to blag the tourists.
during the day if you walked through town you would be bombared with begs, but couldn’t give a penny away after dark… all same faces turned up at the house parties ripped with good rugs etc
gotta know ourcommunity basically… who is real and who is spiel
Not sure that it happens around here as it’s only a medium sized town so people wouldn’t make much money at it I doubt. I do know of one chap that, although genuinely poor and jobless, begs in the street with a couple of dogs for the sympathy vote even though he has a flat. He’s far from rich and maybe there is a reason why he needs to do this but if he has a home address then it makes it far easier to try and get work or benefits.
Like I say though, don’t know his story so can’t really judge.
Yeah, have heard of similar stories in Reading. My friend used to busk around the town and knew some of the ‘homeless’, she was disgusted to hear of their holiday tales and forthcoming plans. :frown:
