after absolutly wee weeing myself about the what….!!!??? thread, im gonna make this thread
right i went to work on wednesday and i know this ashley guy, and u know we said hhi, did the classic winding each other up, then near the end hes like im going out for a fag, im like WHHAATT…..!!!??? (lol) and hes started smoking, this boy really should not smoke, he holds the fag completely wrong like weirdly wrong, and he takes huge drags back, and acts like its cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, i dont know what to do cos es an alright boy and he shouldnt be smoking, its just wrong, he smokes da reefa once in a while and actually picked up from in work and got caught and got a bollocking. i told him not to start but he just sniggered and walked off, im stuck on what to do, apart from bringing in a diseased lung and putting it in his lunch box, i dont mind his smoking weed at all, but cigarettes, and hes just getting started, and hes 16, hes already buying his own fags, i mean this guy isnt really my friend, but i hate to see anyone start
any suggestions, to make him stop, or will he just have to find out for himself, cos he must of had about 3 in the space of an hour.

June 7, 2007 at 1:24 pm #1112534Introduce him to a hardened smoker now on bottled oxygen to survive?
TBH unless he wants to quit you may just have to sit by and let him make his own mistakes and learn the hard way :hopeless:

June 7, 2007 at 1:54 pm #1112529fair play to you for being concerned about your mates health…
but IMO if we break the rules to take recreational drugs we don’t have the right to dictate to others that they shouldn’t smoke, even though its unhealthy, its a legal recreational drug..
its only the individual who can make the decision to start or to quit any sort of drug.

June 7, 2007 at 2:03 pm #1112530I started smoking at the tender age of 11 because I thought I was cool as I could get fags from a dodgey shop near where I stayed. I ended up smoking at least 20 a day by the time I was 16, if I could get duty free then I’d smoke 25g of tobacco a day no bother. I now don’t smoke at all. Gave up when I was 17…I’ve smoked once in 2 years but that was at a close friends funeral but I still have all the same problems as before.
Thats because I still smoke a lot of puff. I thionk its insane drawing any differences between smoking cigarettes and smoking weed. You still smoke tobacco and commerically grown weed is horrible to smoke. Unfllushed, poorly dried (if at all) and sometimes sprayed with all sorts of shit. Its definatley far worse for your lungs than just smoking tobacco on its own. It burns at a far higher temperature than the tobacco so when you burn them together you end up inhaling the tobacco at a far higher temperature than usual which is obviously far worse for your lungs and you also have no filters.
Anyhow I’m getting lost and have no idea what I actually wanted to talk about but theres some things in there to consider anyway.

but i see your point that if your smoking weed you cant really tell someone to stop smoking ciggys

however like all and any addiction – one has to recognise their own addiction and whether it is problematic – and if so – oneself has to make the decision about what to do – and whether to stop –
everyone knows the concequences – but its not that easy

Oh i know i need to quit… also it seems lung cancer is what is killing off my family.
I still enjoy weed though. also with the smoking ban coming in, there is very little point in smoking as i wont be able to casually light up in bars/pubs/clubs. Cant smoke on me bike (Open faced helmet doesnt work), cant smoke at home or work.
Humm is there any point
