Hey there! This is a track that’s going to be on the EP I’m working on… I was wondering if I could get some feedback/advice…?
Leveling is one area that I’m thinking needs improving, because sometimes it seems a little fuzzy on certain speakers… but on the studio monitors it sounds fine… so I’m not really sure where to start on that.Much love! <3
(also, I’m willing to listen to anything of yours and give feedback in return if you so desire!)
August 1, 2013 at 10:11 am #1275062Err, change your style. Nah, just kidding. Not my thing at all but I did listen to the entire piece so I guess it can’t be that bad. As it isn’t to my ear’s palette I’m not sure what improvements I could suggest; that and I possess zero knowledge on music production so wouldn’t know what to say anyway.
Keep up the hard work though, long as you’re happy with your creation bollocks to people like me that have nothing useful to say yet still seem to be able to stretch out their post to a decent length so at first glance you assume it will contain something informative.
August 1, 2013 at 10:14 am #1275058It’s cool man, when’s the EP gonna be coming out by the way?

Not entirely sure; all the songs are written/recorded, we just need to tweak them some more and work on mastering and EQing…
We’re gonna keep working at it until its pretty much perfect so it may be some months tho. xPAugust 1, 2013 at 7:35 pm #1275065@The Psyentist 553629 wrote:

Haha thats still feedback; thanks for listening. We’re working on a mixture of styles… this first EP is mainly trance with some heavier electronic thrown in- but we’re hoping to just make whatever the fuck kinda songs we want in the future, playing around in different genres.

i think I was just blasting it so loud it was buzzy. that and the leveling/compression need to be worked on… we’re still figuring out side chaining and compressing around the voice and all that lovely stuff. its kinda overwhelming. Personally I’m much more focused on actual writing than mastering/levelling so its a new area to get into.

Ha ha, by the time you finish the track, you’ll be so sick of it that you won’t be able to listen to it for months!

Other than the level issues that you have already acknowledged (which at some points mean your file is clipped and would cause the distortion/muddy sound on less good hi fi and speakers) it is a good vocal track, in line with a lot of good EDM currently produced in America (which crosses over more into electro and with the dubstep elements than the older and faster European trance sound).
I listened to it on my day job PC and a cheap set of Philips headphones I bought on sale at ASDA (British equivalent of Walmart) simply because they reminded me of a similar pair I bought in 1990 and it still sounded good.
I did put it through the inbuilt Adobe Audition compressor/limiter which improved the levelling to some point. TBH next time I do a North Sea Rollers show on PVR I am more than likely to play it at some point.

Oh god, I listen to the full EP every time I get in the car. I’m going to hate it soon. Hehe. It isn’t so bad right now; because we’re still picking out things to work on from the songs… so there’s a goal… but when its all done and only levelling remains…. yeah. its going to be bad. haha.
