to those of you who download movies off the net, anyone who has any files at all they wouldnt mind sharing, i have a favour to ask.
if you could be arsed to send me any movie files (in any format, tho preferably avi, the higher resolution the better, natch) to usemal@gmail.com i would be chuffed to bits, and will owe you a favour. this could be making you a picture, or getting you guestlist at a brighton clubnight, or anything really that you think i could do for you (excluding sexual favours and assassination contracts). if you are that way inclined, i could put a reference to you in my vj sets, and put a recording up, so you can feel all special. arf.
i dont expect a massive response, but you dont ask, you dont get, right?
thanks for reading!
April 10, 2006 at 12:43 pm #1069674Hi Use
I got loads of gigs of movies etc… avis/mpegs. Not sure exactly what your after though ? Videos of what ? How long ?
Ive got a good 80 gig of documentaries which would have soom good footage for VJing.
April 10, 2006 at 2:56 pm #1069675Anonymousits all about the vjing, and im after anything you recon. i have been plundering my own mind for stuff, but am totally open to suggestions. anything but midget porn or people dying horribly (unless they are margret thatcher).
thanks for the interest, thought i might have been being a bit cheeky and pointless. reassuringcore. cheers mate!
April 10, 2006 at 3:02 pm #1069676Anonymousoh, anything of people playing instruments or music would be uber actually, people dancing (not at raves, have tonnes of that) erm and some comedy cos im bored. but actually forget that, just music related vids and whatever you recon.
April 10, 2006 at 3:03 pm #1069671www.archive.org has a huge amount of footage free for download (although it seems to be down for me at the moment)…

this is pretty good to, but unless you get stuff from peer-to-peer sources, the quality is generally gash.
April 11, 2006 at 11:19 am #1069672IME all the stuff on archive.org was 29.97 frames per second NTSC material – I tried using this for video projects but had problems with conversion of files (even though I was using the video without sound).
USE – I would be interested to know how USE’s software is handling this (I take it you are editing in 25ps video?)

no problem with that virtual dub that i linked you…or sony vegas trial v.
ntsc or pal shouldnt matter in editing software.
what are u using to edit?
and yerp. 25 fps. standard.
April 11, 2006 at 12:06 pm #1069673I haven’t had much chance to do editing recently but back in Reading I was using the old Adobe premiere 5.1
It choked horribly on a “mixed economy” of 29.97fps and 25fps material, although this was probably more to do with codec problems and old hardware/software..
I will give it another go….

adobe premier is a nightmare, ditch it if i were you. and the best plan i sprolly re-exporting your 29fps clips to 25 before you start stringing em together. but vegas should mean you dont have to.
codecs are wy weakness. still havent got em sussed, i have to use several bits of software as i cant seem to make them all work on all the programs. indeo is good for windows and photo jpeg is good for both, i use that if i can.
