all this happened recently
- 4 murders this week (3 girls who were working as prostitutes plus some UK garage head shot dead at Zest)
- 1 girl still missing
- A few more people got shot at Zest as well
- Armed standoff at a house on the eastside of town
- random attacks on people in town
- cars being nicked from peoples houses, driven around and then burned out
there is so much crime at the moment that 6 detectives have been brought in from Norfolk to help the local cops.
WTF is happening? I’ve lived in some ropey areas before but it is really getting bad here… its easily as bad as Reading and nearly approaching London’s level of crime..

The world have gone mad..
Do you have a lot of drugs there ??
Don’t even think Copenhagen is as bad as this :hopeless:
December 11, 2006 at 5:32 pm #1096155Anonymousthe crimewave is following you gl. look out behind you!
seriously tho, i thought norfolk was a sleepy quiet end of the country. then again i thought nottingham was alright before iwent there..

the level of drug use is the same as most parts of the UK but I think people start doing drugs a bit younger, and also too many do heroin and cocaine (ironically this is because of clampdowns on other drugs!)
Also much crime and violence is caused by people being drunk – Alcohol is well cheap nowadays in all the shops (I think it is cheaper than Denmark, as when !sinner69! came to England he was mentioning how cheap beer was!)
And I think a lot of young people here feel depressed and hopeless.
I am lucky that I have a good job and supportive family here but I would not want to be a teenager growing up here; jobs are hard to get and pay less because a lot of work people did here has moved to other countries.
There is work in some of the insurance call centres but it has long hours and weekend working …. most of my friends can only spend a few hours at the weekend having fun as they have to be at work on Sunday..
So a lot of young people get bored with life really early and some even turn to drugs or crime…

Ipswich was fairly quiet until recently – I think the constant attempts to “gentrify” the town and a rise in the population have added to the problems..
I still feel safer on my own here than I did in Reading but there is definitely an atmosphere on the streets of mistrust and agression in some areas..

My daughter have 4 classmates who got arrested 3 weeks ago,for stealing a car..:yakk:
They drowe around in the area where “we” live and could very easily have harmed somebody..:hopeless:
Another time they scratches and jumped on a car infront of the church, where the owner was to his fathers funeral :you_crazy:you_crazy
I can’t imagine what they will do when they get older..
December 11, 2006 at 7:20 pm #1096142another girl has gone missing now… (thats 3 dead, 2 missing so far)
to be fair though the local community here are not being overly judgmental about the fact these girls were prostitutes…
OTOH it does worry me that these are actually all young, good looking girls yet they feel they have so few opportunities in life that they are reduced to selling themselves (even though many have boyfriends whom I also feel sorry for)
December 11, 2006 at 7:24 pm #1096160Do you think its the work of one person?
December 11, 2006 at 7:30 pm #1096143maybe – but the paradox of crime reporting is that it can spur others on to copycat attacks.. no one can tell until the forensics are checked out properly
also theres a lad went missing from the same nightclub (Zest) earlier this year and no-one has found him either…
December 11, 2006 at 7:56 pm #1096153Having grown up down the road, Ipswich has never been much of a great place to be! You have to remember that its near to felixstowe, which is one of the major ports and hence where a lot of drugs come into the country.
There’s always been a lot of cheap hard drugs around, and all the shit that comes with, as well as a lot of intense underage drinking. (A friend of mine was on a BBC documentary about underage drinking there about 10 years ago!)

I think the raw crime levels are comparable with Reading (where I used to live) – an interesting point I’ve noticed is that the population of Ipswich has apparently increased by 30,000 in just one year bringing it to the same level as Reading – a consequence of increased growth and development…
the underage drinking was just as bad in the 1980s when me and my mates were the ones doing it.. OTOH I do get the impression that kids start drinking and taking drugs way earlier in this area and lower prices (compared to the 1990s) mean they can cane more…

December 11, 2006 at 8:58 pm #1096170one of them are 14 the other two are 15
December 11, 2006 at 9:02 pm #109616316 or 17?
December 11, 2006 at 11:20 pm #1096154devon has low crime rates, but there was a rapist that left a woman naked and for dead in exeter about 10 months ago. he’s tried to break into the hospital where she is in a coma twice and has been chased in a car by cops but got away each time
wonder if it’s the same person in ipswich?
i bet someone knows something in both cases
December 12, 2006 at 1:30 am #1096158Well can’t believe it, Ipswich has never been that bad IMO, Norfolk has always been worse..but having a serial killer goin about is scary as fuck mate…proper Jack The Ripper Styleeee, not the one.
December 12, 2006 at 11:21 am #1096157the country is going mad as a whole, all kids these days have to look forward to is high taxes, student loans and boring jobs. There are also alot of young people out there who arent so academic, and there doesnt seem to be much chance for them, unless they can get GCSEs they have little hope getting on a practical course, so they are more likely to think why bother, and spend their days getting wasted, as to be fair there isnt much else to do if you are young and especially if you arent well off. There are only so many times you can go to the cinema/bowling etc before it dulls the shit out of you and you want something more exciting!
If there were more chances for kids at an early age to progress in more practical skills, instead of being made to pass endless pointless exams, maybe more kids would feel they had a purpose. Its easy to get into the drug world and become someone, you dont need qualifications, and people accept you, you can feel important and feel that you have a place. If only it was easier to get that feeling in something worth while.:you_crazyDecember 12, 2006 at 12:14 pm #1096145missMushed wrote:If there were more chances for kids at an early age to progress in more practical skills, instead of being made to pass endless pointless exams, maybe more kids would feel they had a purpose. people think I am a brainy academic type but I hated every bit of exams and formal education; the things I learned about computers, technology and engineering I taught myself through practical skills
after withdrawing from uni in 1992 I went through a very heavy level of drug use (although never got addicted to class A thankfully)
there were several times then where I could have got involved in dealing or criminality, although luckily I managed to get various office jobs to keep me going and the dot-com boom in the late 90s meant IT skills were valued)
but now its way harsher for youths as no one here wants to give them a chance and their is competition from outsourcing and immigrant communities and the North – worse still when they do scrape together some resources find something to occupy themselves like putting on parties or showing off their their cars and motorbikes they get busted and get stuff confiscated etc – people can’t even have house parties because of noise laws…
its like the fun has been designed out of life for a lot of young people today, so all the have left is booze, drugs and crime…
December 12, 2006 at 4:45 pm #1096171Well now there are 4 :hopeless::hopeless:
Police have found a fourth body as part of their investigations into the serial murders of prostitutes in Ipswich. It was found in the village of Levington, near Nacton, close to where the naked body of Anneli Alderton, 24, of Colchester, Essex, was discovered on Sunday.
The Det Chief Supt Gull said it appeared from a post-mortem examination that Miss Alderton had been strangled.
The naked bodies of two other Ipswich prostitutes, Gemma Adams, 25, and Tania Nicol, 19, were found dumped in woodland on the outskirts of the town.
There were no signs of asphyxiation or sexual assault on their bodies.
Police are concerned for the safety of two more women.Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls, 29, have not contacted police, despite urgent calls to get in touch.
Suffolk Police may draft in extra officers – the force only has 1,300 officers. Detectives have already been brought in from Norfolk.
December 12, 2006 at 4:49 pm #1096172As far as I can read there are still 2 girls missing,or have i got it wrong?:hopeless:
December 12, 2006 at 4:54 pm #1096146until the forensics positively identify which body they have got its still two missing
it could be one of these girls, it could be another one…
December 12, 2006 at 4:59 pm #1096147another body found. Seems more likely to be the two missing ones now but can’t be confirmed until they are indentified…
December 12, 2006 at 5:05 pm #1096173Yeah I was just reading that :hopeless:
It is big news in Denmark too, they more or less warn visitors from Denmark to
be carefull if they are travelling around Ipswish
Is it a serial killer ?
That’s what they call him/her in Denmark, but I haven’t been able to find any
clear evidence about it..
December 12, 2006 at 5:49 pm #1096167Yes it is a serial killer, he has murdered 5 now. I think you have to kill 3 to be a serial killer??
I think the killer is becoming either scared or or he thinks he cannot be touched because the bodies were found just near the road about 20ft apart. I reckon he will either now stop or kill one more and never be seen again like the ripper.
Scary when it happens in your home town!!
December 12, 2006 at 8:34 pm #1096152Was watching the news earlier and the reporter said “Even though they are just prostitutes the citizens of Ipswich are treating this like an attack on the town” :hopeless: :hopeless:
Something that Africa mentioned on SJ made me think. Not only have 5 familys just found out their daughters are prostitutes (if they didn’t know already) but it’s being broadcast to the nation. Pretty soul destroying I should imagine.
