October 18, 2006 at 11:10 am #1092403TBH I read the conditions to mean that illegal parties didn’t count towards your “CV” :yakk:
on a serious note this sort of condition now leaves a company at the risk of legal challenge due to new anti-age legislation which became UK law on 2006-10-01 (so perhaps jtp are unaware of it as its very recent)
Whilst there is a potential exemption for some sectors of the entertainments and leisure industry its only for such situations as theatre, film and TV where the script dictates a character must be a certain age (you obviously wouldn’t have a 50 year old Oliver Twist, nor a teenager cast as Ebeneezer Scrooge!)
There is no real precedent that a DJ has to be any age other than over 18 because of licensed premises rules, and TBH this condition is actually denying this organisation quite a few DJ’s for certain genres such as earlier forms of house; clearly many of them would be over 31 years of age by now!
October 18, 2006 at 11:13 am #1092415There was a poll amongst DJs in DJ or Mixmag (Cant remember which) where the general consensus was that ALL DJs should hang up thier headphones at age 30.Was interesting coz one of them (Well known) changed his opinion to Age 35 on his 30th birthday :laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:

They also said that the cops didn’t really mind you raving and even taking drugs until you are about 30 or so but as you get older they start checking up on you a bit further as you are thought to be either a dealer / criminal / addict or on the way to becoming one..
October 18, 2006 at 12:07 pm #1092406Anonymousi doubt you’d get any decent gigs out of those squares anyway, i mean what self respecting promoter has to go to an agency to find djs? not one with any connections or clout, if you ask me.
October 18, 2006 at 8:03 pm #1092405a mate who runs a few nights around here has got really pissed off with some of the main agencies
some DJs who were well happy a year or so ago with £400, travel expenses, and a heap of ‘hospitality’ now want upwards of £1200 since signing up with certain agencies
you are just putting some records on. get over yourself.
