I don’t really now any trip hop to share, but i’m listening, ears wide open.
November 13, 2012 at 10:42 am #1261911Portishead Dummy has to be one of fav albums of all time, first heard one of their tunes on BPM ( late night dance music from back in the day if anyone else remembers it ), took me over a week or so to find the album before it was well known in those pre-internet days lol
Massive Attack some of the best individual tunes ever, but also lots of crap on their albums, and TBH when Tricky split I thought his solo stuff was rubbish
Also love Kosheen : )

November 13, 2012 at 12:20 pm #1261900it least you’re honest, nothing is worse than someone who says they are into certain music but really doesn’t give a crap/nor like it. Just saying they like it to be part of the gang etc. Oh boy have I come across some of them people before. Like this lad who was in town with me back in 2000 and he bought a Bonkers album just cos he knew I liked it. Probably listened to it once and then it hit the shelf. (But he wouldn’t lend it to me)

And I’m going to see Hadouken! In a couple of weeks. Yay. Guessing maybe they wouldn’t be massively popular with you trip hoppers

Lol. I remember about 6 years ago when I first discovered hardstyle, it was practically unheard of in UK then so was completely different to anything me and my mates listened to at the time. Most just enjoyed it when under the influence although a couple like me quickly developed a passion for it and sober or mashed it was an instant audio boner. Had 1 mate though that clearly didn’t get anything out of it but just to fit in (as if we’d turn our back on him for not liking it lol) listened to it as much as the rest of us. I would deliberately put it on just to see how long it would take him to grow the balls to admit he didn’t like it. Only took him around 6 months hahaha
November 13, 2012 at 12:51 pm #1261905i used to like hardstyle 7 years ago.. now i can only listen to my old tunes for nostalgic reasons otherwise about 20-30mins is when boredom for that genre kicks in.

Yeah I can totally understand that. Started off as quite a diverse and unique sounding genre but then as more people became aware of it it became commercialized and manufactured just like everything else. The old artists and tunes are the best. Most hardstyle today sounds quite generic and is either overly aggressive or actually quite cheesy. I love the genre but haven’t bothered updating myself with new artists as you can predict the disappointment before you even here it.
November 13, 2012 at 5:41 pm #1261910Not sure if this is officially classed as trip-hop but it’s a fucking awesome tune all the same:

How do you post the link as a widget again?
There should be a button or something for mutards like me.
November 13, 2012 at 5:45 pm #1261901on the toolbar there is a orange button type thing press it and paste it URL in plain text not as a hyperlink, alternatively type {soundcloud}monkyphonicslinkgoeshere{/soundcloud} but use these [] brackets instead of these {}
