I have had a really irritating hissing/ringing in my ears (mainly on the left) for about 3 weeks now. It seems to be getting slightly better slowly but I hope it diesn’t last forever!
Anybody else had a bout of tinnitus that stopped or do I just have to get used to it now?
(I now wear earplugs when I go out which turns out to be brilliant! You can hear the music really clearly, you can feel the bass deeply and the music never hurts my ears, no matter how loud it is :weee:)
March 20, 2009 at 8:37 pm #1195453Welcome to my world, we’ll never hear true silence.
You do get used to it eventually, it just takes time.
Go to your GP anyway to get it checked out and at least you’ll know for sure.March 20, 2009 at 9:53 pm #1195444ive had it about two months ,a high pitched whistling at times its unbearable .i am now learning to cope with it and waiting on a hearing test to see how much ive lost .as said above i cannot stress enough get earplugs before its to late

Get it checked by a doctor asap…it could be an infection or some kind of vira…
March 21, 2009 at 10:35 am #1195437Well, thanks for all the advice peeps.
I am going to book in to see my doctor asap and (although I am not that optimistic) I really hope that I don’t become the latest member of the permenant tinnitus cru! It all started when I got a cold, so you never know, but it is also in my DJ’ing ear so .
Grrrr! Hearing is so important to me (as I am sure it is to you too). I reckon I would rather lose an eye than an ear, but I’m not going to go there in case I get what I ask for.
I’ll let you know how I get on and in the meantime I am going to look for some decent re-useable earplugs (any suggestions welcome).
Easy =)

You guys who don’t get any pain are very very lucky.
I get the high pitched noise all the time and occasionally it builds up until its so painful it feels like someone is sticking pins in my eardrum.

March 21, 2009 at 12:10 pm #1195445the er 20s are great earplugs and will prevent more damage .i dont get any pain but when you have it 24/7 sometimes it becomes overwhelming , i use an mp3 player as a masker just to take the edge off it especially when trying to sleep when it seems at its loudest

March 24, 2009 at 8:53 pm #1195455ear plugs ftw
i remember comin home from raves and whistle crew still ringing in my ears
March 26, 2009 at 5:06 pm #1195439Just got back from the doctor and she reckons it may well be a result of infection. She says that she could see some spots on my left ear drum (the ear in question) and has given me a course of antibiotics to take.
I am really hoping that they clear it up…
‘specially since you lot have been sharing your nighmarish experiences with us. I feel for you all, particularly those of you who get pain because of it too.
If you listen to a lot of loud music, are a DJ or bassbin surfer or get ringing ears after parties I HIGHLY recommend you get yourself some ear plugs before it is too late. Permenant ear damage is permenant after all.
I will let you know how the antibiotics went in another couple of weeks. I really hope they work!
March 27, 2009 at 1:40 pm #1195456I’ve had it as long as I can remember, and it’s always really bad after I’ve been to a party or a gig.. so I think I shall try out the earplug idea!!

March 28, 2009 at 10:48 am #1195434Ehh…good to see that you took my advice……
If anyone work in music or entertainmentbizz the normal pluggs are just annoying….get this; SonoCustom™
They cost a bit, custom fitted and will get you pure good sound wich is adjustable(electronical optional) to your own taste and use….highly recomended!
