September 27, 2007 at 1:47 am #1120762fuckin right mate, all you need to do when old bill comes is talk it out, and hope u aint got any lil rudebwoys throwin shit and makin barricades! police are usually reasonable until the ravers hit the point where the police have reason to belive they are potentially dangerous. then they will do anything; beat pregnant women, stomp people who cant walk, beat people who are already on the ground covering their faces, smask car windows and spray pepperspray through, the lot! so dont give them any reason to do this, and it wont happen! thanks for postin the video mate, gonna show this to the new USA krew to show em how to handle the situation as it arises, cause UK style parties are kinda new to my mates out here, thanks a lot mate, peace and rerspect to you! :group_hug

September 27, 2007 at 9:01 am #1120752there is a book called “The Strong Arm of the Law” by Professor P A J Waddington (I think he is a professor of Criminology at the University of Reading).
it is quite expensive to get second hand as it is out of print, but most college or university libraries as well as some public libraries should have a copy or be able to get one.
Everyone who is or may be involved in any form of activism/direct action in the UK (including raves) should read it.
It explains exactly how and why the Police in Great Britain escalate their accepted levels of force to deal with certain situations and the history of such units as the Territorial Support Group (“riot squad”), a comparatively recent development which did not exist until the late 1970s.
the situation in the UK is unique as we have a mostly unarmed constabulary, a supposed tradition of “policing via consent” and an extreme reluctance to deploy a Gendarmerie or even the regular Army to deal with civillian disturbances.
We may not like what the cops sometimes do, but compared to many other Commonwealth or EU nations or the USA (where in many cases people on all sides are prepared to use firearms and explosives!) they are a lot more lenient.

September 27, 2007 at 11:19 am #1120758It still makes me laugh that the police seem to think that there is just one “ringleader” who has organised it all… they don’t seem to realise how much effort it takes to put on a party and that there is never just one person that has done it all…
We had a similar situation where they just wanted the name of the one organiser and when we tried to tell them that nearly everyone there had helped organise it in one way or another they were having none of it..

September 27, 2007 at 11:37 am #1120767they just want one persons name so then its easy 4 them to put blame on sumone n get a conviction etc – its pretty hard for police 2 take action against a group of people where thers no direct responsibilty..

September 28, 2007 at 3:04 am #1120774I love the way old bill tuck their arms up inside their stab vests. Do they teach them to do that in training or something?! They must do, I seem them do it all the time.
Right lads, when attempting to reason with people just tuck your arms in like this and they’ll see your being non-confrontational and everything will be tickety-boo. :laugh_at:
