Hello,
I am actually jessifleurs brother for a start. i forgot my login, and my gmail account when i was unplugged for a bit.So long as our dear leader comrade brown does not decide that he can continue as he started and not bother to ask the people, we will have an election in the U.K this year.
For a long time the 3 main parties have mearly worked on image, trying to impress a conservative and reactionary media. The Leaders of these parties are shallow, and hold only their own best interests at heart.
What if the country was offered a third way, composed of common sense, right thinking policies that would benifit the nation, the economy and the individual?
I’d like to sound out a few boards and forums with the idea of organising a grassroots movement to get the youth, primarily, but also all the people who maybe aren’t that fussed, but do care and do want a better society, to get together to stand behind local independant candidates who will represent the ideas i outlined above, of common sense and decency, and hopefully get at least a few voices heard.
Anyone In?

sounds vague and like you are a uni student.
January 4, 2010 at 6:49 pm #1221938My votes going to Islam4UK.
January 5, 2010 at 3:16 am #1221927My vote is going for no one.
Unfortunately the system for the UK government is rigged to stop independents really having a say.
It is a two horse race followed by the crippled pony of the Lib Dems, so your best bet for change is unfortunately not going to come through any political channels.
January 5, 2010 at 7:45 am #1221952vote cliffy?
January 5, 2010 at 10:35 am #1221930i’m probably going to vote labour
not that i advocate or support what the new labour party has become, and i believe in change through other means. but in terms of who the X will go to, it’ll be labour because i believe that now blair has gone, they are better than the tories and will secure our education, nhs and public sector better
January 5, 2010 at 12:36 pm #1221950i’m with el on this one imo it doesn’t matter who you vote for as the system is bullshit and no matter who you vote for u’ll only get one of two partys in power – and tbh even if another party did get in they would most likely be as shit as the rest of them – i refuse to vote for someone i don’t want to be in govenment and seens as it doesn’t matter who i vote for anyway i won’t be voting as useuall
January 5, 2010 at 12:59 pm #1221917even in countries where they have fairer systems, as soon as the economy faltered the intelligent, educated electorate of well run nations such as NL and DK voted for the extreme right by their own free will.

Not knocking you mate most of my mates probably won’t vote – all I’ll say is in the European elections, it was people not voting that resulted in two BNP seats. It wasn’t an increase in votes for the BNP.
It depends on your local area of course. If your local area is in no danger of getting a BNP MP, then it doesn’t really matter. If it is in danger, turn out and vote for whoever just to take a vote away from them.

I understand what you are saing but i am not gonna get bullyed into voting for some one i don’t want bassed on the threat that some one else might get in power that i also don’t want. I never voted for labor or conservatives or any one in the first place so it’s not even like they are loosing my vote alowing the bnp to have more of a %. Frankly i’m not interested in playing these people stupid games and will remove my self totaly from it even if it means moving out the contry when they make it punishable to not vote (assuming they are that power crazy and end up doing something stupid like this)

You haven’t listened to one thing I’ve said have you? Islam4UK would love for you to vote BNP. It all adds to the aggravation.
If you actually vote or intend to vote BNP I have no time for you, sorry.

Whilst this may be true in some parts of the UK, across the North Sea there are many nations where they either have full proportional representation and in some cases compulsory voting and people have openly and willingly voted for the extreme right.
These are the same nations once lauded for being cornerstones of social democracy. the shift to the right isn’t just to do with Islam (there is tension against Eastern European immigrants, and even people from the UK coming over as drugs and sex tourists) but it coincided with the recession.
As someone who doesn’t have white skin, who grew up in the 1970s/80s and has seen a lot of things from the frontline I think the situation is a much bleaker. I have basically seen 25 whole years of positive progress go down the pan in about 5 short years, and even though the Islamic terrorist threat has receeded due to the good work of international authorities, the economic tensions worldwide caused by migration and resource depletion still remain.
Even so I don’t think World War III will escalate into all out atomic conflict (maybe a couple of nukes in middle eastern nations as a worst case), but I think there may be two very turbulent decades, possibly civil disturbances and subsequent major controls on life (night curfews in town etc) and you will be in your 30s or 40s before things start improving again. Not tinfoil helmet “mad max” type scenarioes but I do think stuff we take for granted like widespread drugs, parties and the late night economy will become much rarer (although not totally disappear) and life will involve much more hard work rebuilding communities and simply keeping some form of civil society in this country.

what makes you think that mate, out of interest? an interesting perspective.

because I’ve been delving very deeply into this whole Islam/BNP beef from a British perspective, and its causes since the 1990s when it first happened.
I’m not a big one for conspiracy theories, particularly US inspired ones, but I think this whole “Islam vs the Rest” thing is a big smokescreen. what I am getting at is that a group of angry, feckless youths be they militant Muslims, the BNP or even just pissheads or hedonistic drug users will simply not be permitted to just fuck around in the streets by the “rest of society” particularly when other factors such as resource shortages and environmental damage start making an impact.
Its hard to describe adequately but normal people particularly Middle Englanders are feeling increasingly powerless and despondent but are just angry at the extremists, yet they feel only miracles and “returns to traditional values” will save the world. And who believes in miracles and traditional values? yes, religious people.
What I think will happen is that the moderate (but still socially conservative to us) religious group leaders particularly of Abrahamic religions (i.e Christianity, Judaism and Islam) will step in when things are going tits up, and wipe the floor with the hedonists. They already have control of the local businesses and substantial resources in some areas, and are the only ones what also seem to be willingly building communities and putting aside their differences whilst so-called “progressive people bicker.
