I was watching newsround the other day (as you do) and I was absolutely appauled to find out that schools are going to have separate lessons for black boys yes black boys.
Apparently black boys dont perform well in class how could this be? I dont understand? perhaps boys dont perform as well as girls but no its just black boys??
I think I am right in saying this is the goverment being darn well racist? This is the goverment labelling people and its wrong! Of coarse it looks like he is being helpful but I think this is just condoling racial hate?
I meen if I was black and someone said to me “im going to give you seperate lessons from all the rest of the kids because your black” I would not be happy at all. Its discusting.
There are going to be kids in school who need extra help but would it not be any child no matter what race they are?March 8, 2005 at 7:52 pm #1064662i think the story was hyped a bit.
but i agree the government are have shown some pretty racist tendancies..
e.g. Blair himself will make speeches saying he will reduce crime and asylum figures
as tho crime and people seeking asylum are comparable evils :frown:
fuck it don’t get me started
March 8, 2005 at 8:23 pm #1064659this is not Government policy [yet]; it was a suggestion by Trevor Phillips, the head of the Commission for Racial Equality (which makes it even worse IMO)…i totally agree with you – this is a very bad idea.
Like you said many of the bad things young black males are blamed for affect all races equally. (the “chav” culture as some people call it).
There are lots of lads who think “its not cool to be clever” – who think that its OK to fight, and rob your way through life, and that they can slap girls/women about or leave them to look after the kid(s) 🙁 – I agree lads who show this behaviour need assistance at school – but it should be taught in a “citizenship” class for all races and genders.
As someone who is from an ethnic minority I would say one of the best things about comprehensive school education in Britain (I have experienced both private and comprehensive education) is the multiculturalism introduced in the 1980s. Its not by any means a cure-all for racism; but for many kids school is the first place where they are exposed to people from differerent races and cultures.
No civilised government anywhere in the World should even think of reversing any part of this diversity.
I’d also point out that Trevor Phillips is not just a senior civil servant but was a journalist known for controversial programming and also still has media interests..
A few years ago his production company carried out a human experiment, where for the benefit of TV a young black boy from South London in his teens was put into a private school (the prodco paid his fees in return for the TV rights, and at the time the school’s headteacher was sympathetic).
The lad did fairly well TBH, although I dread to think the pressure he must have been under – but then the sympathetic head was replaced. The new headteacher expelled the boy for a minor offence (posession of an unauthorised mobile phone, and breaking bounds for an illicit drinking session). when he returned to South London, both him and his family received fairly serious threats; some for “selling out”, others for “fucking up the chance he had to do well with his life”. His family have since had to move, and he may still be under Police protection.
I think in this case it is Trevor Phillips who needs to do some extra homework; before he destroys his own career, the aims of an otherwise positive organisation, and the lives of many more – before he starts shouting in class again……
March 8, 2005 at 9:30 pm #1064661I just think it will do alot worse than good, by doing this HE is going to be the person putting a thin line beetween black and white people.
Its just wrong ALL children will have learning dissabillities at some point, wheather black white or asian they will all need some sort of extra help why cant they all go in the same class.
I dont really understand why there was all this hype about not being able to put an english flag out of my window (not that I would) because it would offend muslims and my children will no longer be able to go and see father christmas because it would offend muslims (or any other religion not christian) this is rubbish I have a few asian friends and none of them have a problem with father christmas, in fact some of them take THERE kids to see him. Who was it that made up this utter rubbish.
It is causing racial hate because unfortunately the majority of English people are very narrow minded and they believe this crap.
And why does Toni blair do it, well its so we’ll back the war agaisnst iraq I guess. yeah lets go and blow people up for blowing people up!! makes sense!! :ar15: :rolleyes:March 9, 2005 at 9:25 am #1064663The governments gone so far fetched lately. as you say skatty “it will do alot worse than good, by doing this HE is going to be the person putting a thin line beetween black and white people.” There maybe reasons for doing this and he may have satistics to back himself up but regardless it wont help, its just giving children reasons to bully each other.
and “I dont really understand why there was all this hype about not being able to put an english flag out of my window (not that I would) because it would offend muslims”
that statement is too true. Saint Paddys day every irish man and IRA member living in england can get pissed and wave irish flags all over the place, but come saint james’ day we’re not aloud to celebrate our own country heratige or put up a flag which represents our country, but im sure if we waved the stars and stripes around blair would be fine about it.
Political correctness is good and has stopped disagreements but its gone too far on many fronts.

If laws were that restrictive, hotels (which often display flags of all nations) would get busted all the time, and the Russian circus which is currently set up in a riverside park here would have trouble displaying the tricolours on its tents (it must have been even more alarming in the 1980s, when residents of a suburban area would have seen the Soviet hammer and sickle as they approached the Thames…)
The St Georges flag is a legitimate national flag, as are the Saltire, the Red Dragon and the Union Flag[1], and all citizens may display them as they please (provided they are not flown in such a way as to create a safety hazard). Local councils are however free to set planning rules on flagpoles and in some circumstances the display of flags. Most just have basic safety rules about flagpoles (to stop said poles falling upon peoples heads when badly set up!) – but some councilors appear to have gone overboard recently.
IME its far more often middle england paranoia and anger that ethnic groups actually have more rights than they did 30 years ago, rather than any worries or complaints by the ethnic communities themselves.
I seriously think these stupid rules are dreamed up by the sort of councillors who are actually against racial equality but infilltrate the “diversity/equality” committees in order to destroy their work- then they tip off the local media to cause this friction.
When you consider that the UK Independence Party was set up to attempt to elect politicians to the EU to destroy it (and that similar organisations exist in other European nations), this comes across as far less of a “wacky conspiracy theory” and evidence of how vindictive society can become/…
In East Reading there are a lot of Asians, and many younger ones were born in England. It is a mixed Muslim/Hindu/Sikh community, but there is so little friction (compared with elsewhere in the Thames Valley)that unless you see people in traditional dress or near their place of worship, or were to speak to them, you would not even know what religion they practiced….
They put up as many St Georges flags as anyone else and sold them at their shops, particularly when the cricket is on – there are now many British Asian players in the England team, including a lad who used to practice at the nets in an East Reading college and is (naturally) a “local hero” to many people! 😀
Funilly enough we don’t have any restrictions on flags in Reading, and it has one of the best racial harmony records (if not the best) of any city in the South-East!
OTOH a lot of this is due to the relative prosperity of the area and the amount of job opportunities – it could be a case of “enjoy it while you can” as downsizing/outsourcing bites into this prosperity..
but it just shows what the truth is – good communities are created by people having equal chances and access to resources, defnitely not by segregation of any kind..

[1] One squatter I know would regularly fly a Union flag outside party buildings, although one night a Scotsman in our crew took exception to it and removed it! -
