Did anyone catch ‘My Shocking Story: The Boy With Divine Powers‘ on the Discovery Channel tonight?
The documentary was about a 15 year old called Ram Bahadur Bamjan, who has been meditating under a banyan tree in Central Nepal for about 8 months, before disappearing. All this time he never ate, drank or moved.
Some people believe him to be Buddha reincarnate.
Very interesting documentary, if you did not see the program, try and track it down.

July 1, 2006 at 8:43 pm #1080692i remember reading about it in a paper a few months ago, apprenetly some scientists wanted to do some tests but weren’t allowed. can’t remember much it was a while ago.
i wonder where he went.July 3, 2006 at 9:20 am #1080696The filmmakers filmed the lad continually for 5-6 days/nights.
They never witnessed him take food or water, a person will die, after 4-5 days, if they do not have an intake of water. The documentary also featured a 70 odd year old man, whom stated that he has not eaten since his teens. Some scientists studied him, under a controlled environment for 10 days. In that time he did not take any food or liquid.
Truly mad (if true).
Has anyone had any experience in meditation?

It is amazing how TV has the ability to make people believe in the impossible…What a load of f###ing nonsense!…I have to question the mental state of people that actually believe this crap!!!!!!…And what kind of drugs they take!!!!

Truly mad (if true)….it is not true, only simple minded people can believe this nonsense!!!!

YES! For many years, it can be beneficial to some extent, but it’s basically nothing more than a pastime, even a waste of life, but does have health benefits, depending on the person, it can help to lower blood pressure etc!…Extremely experienced (20 years+) buddist monks can get there heart rate down to 1 or 2 beats a minute, they can also meditate themselves to death by starvation, and have the ability to burn themselves to death…Well documented during the korean and Vietnamese wars!!!
January 21, 2008 at 12:04 pm #1080693@ bones, why are you so agitated all the time?
January 21, 2008 at 2:48 pm #1080697I’d burn that lad at the stake, I don’t understand it so therefore he must be eliminated. :you_crazy
