and yes, you plug the speakers straight into the generater, thats where the music comes from.

July 4, 2009 at 11:16 am #1202929one word, “Lol.”
well we all have to start somewhere…
audio is a strange thing, it can never be perfect for everything so theres never the best equipment. but say, for drum n bass, fane collossus and black widow speakers are prefers. rave rigs frequently use what is called a “scoop” for the bass end of the rig. these essentially compress the bass and push it out with more force (i think? im a noob too). This means its louder in front but it doesnt travel as far, which is good for raves..
there isnt a best wattage. ‘watt’ is pretty much how loud it can go (in very basic terms).. Since sound dies outside, youll want to be looking at around 600watts rms at least for a garden party of about 50 people thats loud enuff to dance to but quiet enuff to talk over.yes you plug the amplifier into the generator. the speakers then plug into the amplifier (they are powered by an amplifier). or you can use ‘active’ speakers, where you cut out the amplifier bit and just plug speakers straight into the generator.
July 4, 2009 at 12:55 pm #1202918I suggest you read this:
http://www.partyvibe.com/forums/community/27792-how-build-sound-system.html
You could just “buy a few speakers and amps ect” but be prepared for shit quality, blowing things up and wasting money.
Building and maintaining rigs whilst putting on parties isn’t easy nor as glamorous as it sounds. Very complicated and expensive stuff!
If you read the above, get a basic understanding, you can come back and ask the question again, although in a slightly different form. There is no best speakers for raves, there’s too many variables. Not to mention, even in the category of best brand names, on a very small scale, you’re talking more than most would earn in a year.
I’m not an expert, but the above is true. What are you actually trying to achieve? Little friend gatherings in the woods or what? Like I say read some of that and maybe you can then ask more of a specific question. Im not trying to be a know it all or anything ๐ But I think if you have a better Idea of how things work, you will get some better advice from some of the proper techs on here. No point giving you advice if you won’t understand it!
Good luck
July 4, 2009 at 2:54 pm #1202935yeah man! i no what you mean! i no i should be more specific but just a forum i can just get some deas of ๐ thanks! basically small gathering in woods like 40 peeps or sumit!

Thanks for the advice guys ill look at that link you gave me.
im more of a hard D&B guy so yeah ๐Thanks again!

No worries, but what’s your definition of knowing how to “tech it up”. Compare what you know with the link I suggested. You don’t obviously need to know everything in that thread, it’s very detailed, but at least having a scan will help to begin with.
July 4, 2009 at 8:53 pm #1202936Like i no how to build my own set up, and produce me own sound! but not all the physics and stuff behind all the audio! ill have a look at it and see what i already now anyway! dose seems complecated but i will learn! people start form scratch!

thanks for info again man!No worries. Few mates of mine started from scratch, blew alot of speakers and originally created shit-ish sounding stuff! Now, however, they have a good, well made sound system now that they have learnt alot. However reading is free, trial and error is not ๐
July 6, 2009 at 6:44 pm #1202937Very very true dom ๐

July 6, 2009 at 7:16 pm #1202922the title is sort of like asking ‘what’s the best music to play at a rave’

Techno. Fairly straight forward, no?
Romance: There is a lot of soundsystem snobbery around these days compared to 10 years ago when people started off with knobbly rigs and slowly progressed in their knowledge (whilst having a bloody good time in the process)
Just get yourself a simple bit of knowledge and off you go. Read and learn as you go along. You can always sell kit on and upgrade as you start to understand things better.
Just stay well away from messing about with electricity if you don’t know much about it. Especially get some knowledge on generator use and stay WELL AWAY from 3 phase supplies should you come in to contact with them. Get a sparky to sort it.
July 6, 2009 at 8:26 pm #1202931If your in Stockport you aint far from me and were selling up our sound system & have some bits left….
Id go for EV there not Void or F1 but I sware by em.
