I’m having my tea at Apocalypse Towers. I had a strawberry out or the manor gardens and went for a walk round the lovely grounds.

Its nice here and lord apocalypse is so accommodating, were currently drinking coffee in the offices of apocalypse Haulage company surrounded by the most lovely antiques.

I shall be back before midnight.:love:

TBH I ended up doing the same (but hiding in the tent) towards the end of philosophers fair for this reason (was starting to feel cold)

sounds like you’ve almost got a proper farm on your hands! i wish i had a garden where i could start to grow my own stuff.. i suppose i could grow some tomatoes and peppers and chillies and stuff in the kitchen, but its not really the same and its a bit late now anyway…

this is also the sort of stuff what makes normals think “hmm, those ravers aren’t so bad after all”

a couple of my mates nearer the more “bumpkin” part of Suffolk (Ipswich is more like a city and Lowestoft is a fairly big town!) are into this but not enough of them IMO..

Apocalypse Mannor vintage scrumpy wine raaa Wonder if it would sell at partys?

The fact that ravers eat Mc D’s and these days arnt a threat to the ‘ballence of society’ or that a few are intrested in living alternative lifestyles?

It saddens me to see partys now days largly male dominated with lads in suped up cars letching after lone femails. i know i keep harking back to the old days but the changer was never a good thing. Its not K its the fact that society changed with greed & apethey. People want there money, jobs and comfort. The government keep controll coz they controll the luxurys and joe public is now that soft they cant live without them so they need the government to keep em fed…

This washes of on the free party n festival scene thats why folk go to these big corprate man made festivals. Drum n bass apeared and the old ‘free partys for free people’ ethic went.

I realy want to change this back but when you rock the boat it anoys people. People dont want change even if its for the better, but alot of the people on the scene now are to young ton remember the vibe of 10 years ago. Its still there in Europe.

the “alternative lifestyle” element of course! 😉

Self sufficiency types are seen as harmless hippies or even welcomed these days

society is actually becoming more environmentally aware

if I say my mates are hippies and grow their own food, build their own houses etc etc all my normal work colleagues smile and are supportive – if I say they are ravers they are seen as chav scum and druggie criminals

these are often the same people…

“propaganda spin” as brains kan used to chat about works both ways (and there was once a time when they had really good ideas and plans, all lost through greed and lack of self control)

thats exactly what its like these days – its also why the main cops at parties are now the black rats (traffic) because they already know the cars from cruises, urban races etc.

maybe the astronomical cost of petrol will deter the worst of these idiots..

round here when the more socially aware crews tried to halt the decline they were ignored and the youths carried on their own way.

Now we have a massive lockdown and the gang culture is coming to the towns with no raves any more, but of course raves will be seen as part of the problem rather than the solution…

The last party we did the one up at sheff had a scally eliment but wasnt to bad, there were the usual layed back hippy types as well so it was ok.
I think the ‘free party’ people of this generation could be woken up. Just coz they got dreads and diffrent colothes doesnt meen they are aware of green & social issues, far from it to alot its a fassion statement & a way of being ‘diffrent’. I prefer to dress like the boy next door as I dont stand out.
Theres a lass neer n=me who is deaded up to the max and drives round in a merk 308 thats campered up just to show of and be ‘diffrent’ and to piss mum n dad off. She aint got a clue about alternate life styles other than music festivals and the odd camping trip.

At sheff multi rigger we handed out a publication we did. It was a squaters mand seff sufficiency parper styled on the METRO news paper. We hoped that people would take notice that therre was a bigger picture than just a free party and that AHC wasnt just a sound system. I think these were largly ignored and used to light the camp fire. (they did look a little to much like the METRO) and Becky was probbly thought to be abit mad handing out the METRO at 11pm.

We need to wake the masses up!! But most folk are to scared!

actually one of the funniest things I saw was welsh traffic coppers with dreads and dressed like 1990s ravers in a gleaming silver mercedes saloon car at some Welsh teknival, driving it around to collect numberplates on ANPR

if they had used a grubbier car they would have maybe fooled a few more people, but it was more like a scene from a comedy cop film like hot fuzz…

do you have the computer files for this still? (or a scan of it?)

I don’t think they are scared – The masses are angry but dumbed down and don’t know how to deal with it or don’t want to.

f they were scared there wouldn’t be so much violence on todays scene and people prepared to fight coppers (who always win because they are better trained, disciplined and have society behind them) or so much crime in the streets and towns where the “downtrodden youths” are robbing off their own community.

They simply don’t care because theres shitloads of other things for youths to do and they can and do still drop back into the rat race when they get bored of raves or it gets too on top to do them.

A lot of youths don’t want to do self sufficiency etc because to them its boring and they’d rather snort K and play Xbox. At extremes some will just end their own lives and/or those of others.

The harsh fact is the middle englanders are actually stealing a march on the next generation with the “back to basics” lifestyle and if we aren’t careful it will be done their way in a very conservative and austere fashion…

even if it is the idiots what use it against their own communities are playing straight into the hands of the system

the more shit they cause in town the more coppers and lockdowns we get as the “normal people” don’t believe in alternative solutions, they believe in the law and order

we had a really well kitted out nightclub here but a succession of wannabe hard men and rudeboys (including the bouncers!) got it a rep for violence and then london boys shot it up

its now sat there rotting, but it can’t even be squatted as any attempt would get stopped by armed police as they themselves are fearful crackheads would take it over like what happens to many squats down south

Other than the people on this site, I’ve noticed a lot of party people who aren’t stupid won’t read these days – not that they can’t but they think its boring..

I dont blame the idiots that go out kicking off its there reaction to a society thats letting them down, its like a dissafected youth n whos there to speak for them? The BNP n the far right coz no one else wants em….
Its always been the way, who wants to speak up for a young violent coke n stella fueld white lad on minimun wage? There that self concious they wont try anything diffrent for fear of been branded a weirdo and there peers laffing at them.

I here you on the reading front but theres other factors involved. Its that allot dont want to put any effort into things and are happy just to do the ‘good bits’ and do he partys.

                                                Who will eat the cake?

There was a realy good squatt comunity in manchester recently run by a young crew and they had it done out realy ell with a cafe n living area and meetin rooms. BUT they didnt have alot of experience and wouldnt listen to advice. Especialy when it came from ‘scallys’ ie people who dressed like eme. I offered em lots of help n advice but they wouldnt liisten in the end they lost it due to not knowin the law propper and not listening.
There also was a lack of trust due to that nonce being on the scene and him gettin runn off.

thing is they are fighting a losing battle at least down south and particularly in East Anglia – the bits of society with power simply will let them cull their own numbers through gangs and violence then introduce lockdowns/curfews once they start damaging anything too important – they’ve not even got the backbone of solidarity amongst working class what happened in 1981 / 85 after the riots.

This is already happening in London.

true, but in which case they will have to put up with whatever middle england offers them in the future (especially when peak oil starts to bite and society wants to know who are productive or at least low/zero impact on society and who are “surplus people”) – it will probably be menial factory-style work / national service like back in the 1950s when they could have had it a lot better..

hopefully society as we know it will have broken down enough by then. but we will still have surplus people. then they will have to realise they will have to pull there fingers out in order to survive, but they wont have the skills like 90% of current society.
i remember a lass & her fella coming onto a site after a festival and holding a cigarete lighter under 3 large logs trying to light a fire much to everyone on sites amusement. she then asked where the toilets were and was handed a spade. it took her 5 mins to come to suss out what it was for then she just looked like she was in shock…

                                                      depends which society you mean

I think the rural / suburban middle englanders especially those with any sort of outdoors skills or proper engineering will actually survive and even thrive because they or their older relatives have lived through those times before

i.e the granny lady who looks after her garden or the old boy who does his own metalwork and electronics as well as knowing about computers.

They also have the organisational skills to run local communities and to work with the traditional authority structures like the police and military who will protect them from those trying to steal their resources without contributing

also those genuinely living low-impact/sustainable lifestyles will survive so parts of Britain won’t end up like some disaster movie but more like in the 1950s again..

I think a lot of the surplus people will end up just eliminating themselves – some will just give up trying to live…

its going to hit many of the younger people harder than the older people. I think a fair few of our age group and many of the middle aged people are adjusting really well TBH, such as how I noticed loads of people aged 40 or so on bicycles recently – not a club run but going to and from work, and their bikes were obviously the ones they had kept from the 1980s (I know my bikes )

that was the “good old days”. today a lot of people would just use petrol and light half the forest on fire by accident or just shit in the woods and bring things on top for a short term event like a rave or if it were a long term space they’d contaminate the area..
