Well for a start I understand the diffrence of being British to English. Derry is in Northern Ireland thus my family is of Northern Irish decent thus British though some class themselves as Irish (the other side of the river Foyle to the Waterside area of London/Derry).
The Protestant/British/Loyalist areas from which my family hails from are feirsly British so much so there more proud to be British than the English who they sometimes class as trators due to the selling off of 3 countys to the Irish Republic after WWI.
The UK & Britain is made up of England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland so being British is not being English.
Your said Gippy dialect I take to mean Gypsy of which a true Gypsy is of the Roma easten European origin not Irish. An Irish traveler is usualy classed as a Tinker and has a mixture of Irish and English accents commonly known in the traveler communitys as “Pavey of Pav”.
