May 12, 2009 at 9:10 pm #1199011Some of your speeds make me jealous!
We can only get a max of 5mb here apparently, we’ve been with loads of different ISPs. I don’t understand it though, it’s a new estate (5years) so you’d think they’d future proof these things. Do you have to live in a city to get decent speeds above 10 or what?
May 12, 2009 at 9:27 pm #1199018so i get 3rd place! yeeeey
but my mum uses her laptop alot and my sisters have their own laptop that they use alot and i have another computer which sometimes gets used aswell

I started 2 years ago buying 1MB and then they doubled it, and again, and 1th april they tripled it, all for the same prize
Think my speed comes with our cables run with out tv cables. If one goes down they both go down, but that have big advantages,
1 They fix it really quick if it goes down, or a lot of people would get pissed
2 we can get up to speed 50MB if we need it, I can’t however see any reason for that.May 13, 2009 at 7:26 am #1198984May 13, 2009 at 11:48 am #1199002Angel;326602 wrote:we can get up to speed 50MB if we need it, I can’t however see any reason for that.showing off how fast your net connection is on pv? :hiding::laugh_at:

May 21, 2009 at 2:46 pm #1199033Not to brag or anything but I think I found a better test…. The above test gives basic speed information but no real info you quality or capability of your connection. My favorite Broadband Speed Test site is ISPgeeks.com – Broadband Speed Test, Voip Diagnostics, Internet Bandwidth Forums.
Click on Broadband Diagnostics then TCP Quality Test or Speed/Cap Test and the rest is simple. They also have a true speed test, voip test (very good for testing streamed radio also) and a couple of other things.
You get data back like this (testing my connection)
Speed test statistics
———————
Download speed: 7437424 bps
Upload speed: 1646448 bps
Download quality of service: 97 %
Upload quality of service: 95 %
Download test type: socket
Upload test type: socket
Maximum TCP delay: 76 ms
Average download pause: 3 ms
Minimum round trip time to server: 60 ms
Average round trip time to server: 61 ms
Estimated download bandwidth: 35200000bps
Route concurrency: 4.7328215
Download TCP forced idle: 77 %
Maximum route speed: 8738000bpsPlus it even gives you graphical data such as this (based on the test above).
May 21, 2009 at 10:09 pm #1199003plug?
May 21, 2009 at 10:13 pm #1199034No plug, just sharin my results and a different test IMHO is better because of what it offers. The others are ok but won’t help you at all for diagnosing problems plus they aren’t that accurate because they are http based. The test I posted is socket based and tests for things the other tests can’t or won’t do for whatever reason. You can have a fast connection but if it isn’t consistent then it’s useless for radio, video and voip.
May 21, 2009 at 10:52 pm #1199020i prefer angels speed test =)
