July 19, 2010 at 3:59 pm #1227789July 19, 2010 at 4:14 pm #1227778is it not cheaper to buy the cable and connectors separately and wire the leads yourself (or get young Josh to do them for cider money, just don’t get busted by Suffolk Coastal for child labour :laugh_at:)
July 19, 2010 at 5:00 pm #1227784Yea it is cheaper to make them for yourself, but my lot are bloody lazy. And i really cba to make leads all day lol.
July 19, 2010 at 8:22 pm #1227779if I lived nearer and had more spare time I’d do a few but a entire rigs worth is a bit much – but its not as if its steel armoured cable, and speakons are easy enough to wire up… surely if everyone did a couple each you’d have ’em done in no time!
I had a look but it seems maplin are about the cheapest for made up cables…
July 19, 2010 at 8:40 pm #1227782cables are often a forgotten expense, and can be a pain in the arse, but its worth paying more now for better quality stuff then having problems and paying twice.
we had some cheap cable that used to break mid-cable if it wasnt neatly coiled, which never ever happens after a party, and the speakons used to break of very easily,
now use vandamme 4core with neutriks, never had any problems, tho they are pricey, think about £3.50 a metre for the cable,
luckily ours were ‘borrowed’ from a honda f1 function storage room when they went bust

what you need though mate ive got some cables i aint usin
July 19, 2010 at 11:15 pm #1227780Probably more ethical than some Chinese kid putting them together for 20p a hour and you’re more likely to get decent cables.
BTW Farnell sell that Van damme cable as well, £2.50 a metre but its good stuff as my old crew use it.

August 13, 2010 at 5:42 am #1227783Get a roll of 20amp mains cable and wire them yourself – speakons are the simplest of all cables to make – no soldering necessary (unless you want to tin the ends), you just insert the cable and screw it down. You can get the plugs for £3.74 inc VAT and 100m reel of arctic grade 20amp cable for £89.12 inc VAT which is PVC insulated and sheathed, very flexible and will take temperatures down to -40C should you ever have a party in the arctic .
Will do you a good few cables, and will definetly carry any power your amp can put out…
August 20, 2010 at 2:00 pm #1227788cheers for the advice noname
August 21, 2010 at 4:00 pm #1227781to be fair using the arctic mains cable is just as good as the fancy van damme stuff, have to admit in SE England (where Tek Offensive still lives) we had all been getting a bit spoilt.
Young Josh is even offering to make up the cables too… Even the Chinese have to convince their teenagers to work in the factories :laugh_at: TBH if you can supply somewhere safe to stash my e-bike I’d be happy to ride up myself and help you lot out as well.. if all of us make a few each then it will be over and done with quick enough..
