      Evening peeps

      I’m toying with the idea of investing in a small soundsystem for the parties that I promote (normally in small to medium sized venues or outside, normally on private land) I’ve got bored of hiring in my own sound but don’t know a huge amount about soundsystems really

      I’ve been recommended Void Audio by a few different folk and would like to get some opinion fro people that do this week in week out

      This is around the price that I would be looking to spend… Can anyone give me any advice?

        You have been advised well. If you are planning on doing anything bigger than 150-200ppl then you might want to look at investing a bit more and going for something a little more substantial but for <200 you really can't get much better for your money when buying new. Far superior and value for money than Peavy/Mackie etc who have the same kind of thing on offer.

          Thanks Bio Tech… Yeah generally the parties never go above 200 people and we’re not really planning on expanding them, small is beautiful and all that. Also we are on a fairly tight budget. My only concern with buying this rig is how easy it is to add to or upgrade parts should it be needed a little further down the line.

          Anyone here use this kind of rig?

            That’s where you will hit a problem. If you were to do it right then the only way to upgrade this system would be to buy another one.

            Obviosuly you could purchase and add different types of cabs/amps to beef it up but then you would be heading down a dodgy road. The fact that you are considering void tells me that you probably want to do this the right way rather than builing a massive pile of mismatched speakers to inflate your ego.

            Of course if you ever wanted to spend a load of cash in the future and start a larger pro-audio rig then this Void system would make an absolutely cracking monitor set up!!

              Hahaha foiled! Seems you read my motives right from the off. Yep you’re right I don’t really want a pile of mismatched speakers I want a nice sounding little rig to play my tunes on. The upgrading thing isn’t a massive issue as, as already stated, we don’t really intend to put on parties any bigger than say 150-200ppl.

                It’s an ideal first rig as everything is there and ready to go. It’s all passive so you wont need to fiddle with crossover settings. It’s basically plug and play, but if you were inclined to use an EQ then it’s not a problem to add one in the signal chain if you required.

                  if you want everything ready to go and in a box it seems good, but with a bit of research and a bit of looking round for bargains you could surely get either something similar for a lot less, or something a lot bigger and better for the same price.

                    Unlikely unless you are willing to compromise on the quality.

                    Possibly but then it’s the hassle of matching everything up and getting all correct cables, not to mention having a greater understanding of sound systems and how they should be set up.

                    I agree that if you have the knowledge then it would be worth maybe picking up a few bargains here and there but for a first time system for small parties this is so ideal. Void is very good value for money too.
