has your “experience” in life been that bad?????
May 11, 2006 at 10:53 am #1072780TIG – raves are in a legal grey area but aren’t actually a criminal activity until they annoy other people. Its still possible to do them without annoying the neighbours (although obviously some areas of UK are better than others due to terrain!)
I don’t think everyone is at all surprised cops and general public try to stop them though – I’m not as I’ve seen this stuff going on for 16 years now and this site actually documents the growing backlash against parties since 2000 or so
I’m also one of the first to criticise badly run events and the denial of the worse aspects of drug culture such as the rise in mental health problems, petty crime and domestic violence that has arisen since the early 1990s.
none of this has gone unnoticed by the authorities either and it is being used to justify wider clampdowns across the board including licensed events and it reaches to wider society.
I read in one of our local paper even the traditional bumpkin agrictultural shows can’t have their beer tent because of licensing problems, thats how harsh this country is becoming; surely after chaps like APC have qualified and are working down on the farm they should be able to have a pint of real ale at the show (I hope they wash their hands first)..
its not a case of “fighting the babylon” but fighting our social case for people to have some sort of freedom outside the constraints of the nanny state – unless (and this may well be the case) you are indeed prepared to have your bit of fun and watch the country get more and more locked down?

Of course the free party scene is taken seriously by the sound systems that throw free party, wouldn’t ya think?
Yes for you ravers who come along to have a laugh and a good time it isn’t serious your out for a laugh, but for the crews who spend hard earned money and time organising a rave and those who are travellers and who’s life is the free party scene. it is taken very seriously.
Its something you can’t take light hearted, you need to think about what you are doing. you could get in big trouble.

PEL sucks arse along with the vast amount of money the OB think they can charge to justify the license.
My local Steam Rally this year is proper fucked about it, normally the OB would charge them £3000 for the security for the entire weekend, this year they claim it will cost £15000 in order to police the event effectively, their main reason for this cost is because people have to cross a road to get to a car park, as a result of the costs the evening entertainments have been scrapped and the whole thing has had to be reorganised.
WANK I say, its pissing off everyone not just the Party Community.

I put on parties and have done for a few years. As do most of my friends. I just don’t take it all too seriously.
And as for someone who’s ‘life is the party scene’ – well that’s just sad.
In all honesty this is a bad day to have this sort of conversation with me as i’m well hanging and in a proper dry mood.
General – I agree in terms of it being a ‘grey area’ – but then again, nothings really illegal unless someone sees you doing it is it?!
As far as the country getting more locked down, I couldn’t even think where to start trying to combat that. The rate at which our state is going down the pan appears to be increasing exponentially.
I’ll probably just fuck off when it gets too much. Either that or pray for a revolution

me and my mates sabotaged an entire set of French orals by short circuiting the schools electric system so all the tape recorders/audio equipment stopped workiing; the school had to pass everyone to keep the grades up (and I have no regrets whatsoever for doing this!)
anyway I would be up for the weekend if anythings going on provided it don’t involve fighting riot cops…
Yeah Im just looking forward to them being over…but then I know after Summer Im off to uni, which of course Im well lookin forward to, but Im quite apprehensive about it aswell.

Yep nor do I mate I go to parties to have fun and a laugh like evryone else.
But if I wanted to raise an issue in party politcs that everyone should be concerned about and I put a point across, I would like to have a decent conversation with like minded people who care about the fight to express our selves freely.
On squat juice I would get told I am wierd and told to F*** off because I take things to seriously. (or to much for most of them to discuss because it is not an issue to them)
No disrespect my fellow free party nuttah, the reason I started to rave was to have fun. And unfortunately there a lot of people whos life is and revolves around the free party scene. Its not sad to them its there life.
Stay sexy M
