bring your old bike along for painting starts 10.30 with music and food all day
January 29, 2005 at 1:18 pm #1063894sounds good fun – but it is
- a demonstration of someones sculpture?
- a workshop for people to make a sculpture to take to a demo
- or a bunch of people protesting against a sculpture? (like gathering round one of those awful commissions some councils spend their citizens money on (when they could do something better like do maintenance on the grounds of an estate so its nicer for kids to grow up in), and shouting “this sculpture’s pony!” 🙂
all of these would be good though
why not upload a picture of the sculpture to here?
January 29, 2005 at 5:27 pm #1063897Anonymousdamn straight, shame the note was so last minute…i think someone needs to create a user freaindly alternative / free party / protest webring, with somekind of communal event database that is automatically updated from each of its memeber sites..is this possible?
i know everyobe has links, but would be cool to have a central directory….theres not enough communication, to many groups of well sound people doing similar things, but unbeknownst to each other….
maybe we should have a “suggested links” section, and a more visually based links page (i’m up for doin the vis / collecting the info so long as someone else makes it webworthy..
January 29, 2005 at 7:41 pm #1063895perhaps you could do all that stuff with XML/RSS feeds from each site providing info; but all site maintainers involved would have to do extra programming to stop duplicate info causing confusion, and prevent an attack of trolls or malicious hackers on one site wiping out or contaminating good data across all the sites.
I expect it would be complicated. Certainly I would only be able to provide an overview of such a project (unfortunately I don’t know enough PHP/perl or whatever), it could be weeks of work for those writing the code as techies usually have to fit in these pet projects with our day jobs…
I would argue though that much of the technical resources for groups to communicate already exist – such as this messageboard and others, you also do not have to be a tech-wizard to set up blogging software which is usually two-way for people to add their own stuff.
IMO its not a lack of communication channels; but there should be more desire to share info about these good things that are going on from the crews themselves!
So many people mention a wonderful idea ( a party, an action, an art project) on here or another site, and then you see no feedback about what happened. OK I appreciate some people may not want to be seen as being boastful if it looks like they are “plugging” their own project; but they could always get a friend to take a few snaps or write a report and post it to various places on the web.

February 3, 2005 at 11:51 am #1063896lorraine, please don’t worry about “taking up too much space” on here -you don’t have to edit old posts to update the new events!
Feel free to start a new thread on each activity, or alternatively post them to the calendar as well – they may not be “raves” per se, but I can’t see a problem with these positive events being posted there…
you can also upload pictures with your posts (it would be good to see the sculpture!) or ask Site for a gallery account if you have many to upload..
