Military vehicles, militaria and military classifieds
What do you lot reckon? Cars tend to be expensive and the insurance is just ghastly for young people. Checked insurance quotes for tanks and they are quite cheap due to falling under a different category entirely.
February 28, 2012 at 3:08 am #1251175This to transport all your tunes in? :laugh_at:
You got to get special rubber bits to go in between the tracks on vhc’s like that to drive them on the road. Got to be worth it tho as that’s be fooking sweet driving a tank. My and my mate used to always talk about it, he nearly bought a tank over in Poland about 10 odd years back at a black market over there lol, but decided not to when he thought about getting it through customs. :laugh_at:

Yeah I know all about the procedures for making them street legal. But I’m seriously considering saving up and buying something like that. I mean, when you’re in a car you always have to be worried about keeping the vehicle you’re driving intact. With the tank you only have to worry about the impending mayhem you will inflict on others. Imagine showing up to a rave in one of those?
February 28, 2012 at 7:10 am #1251178The idea is great but the Police wouldn’t care about legal procedures…

It is legal to drive them on the roads if the tank is under a certain size and all conditions met. You can’t get arrested for not breaking the law (well you can for “suspicion” of something but they would have to release you straight away when they find there’s no law against it, and then if they do it several times you can file a complaint about harassment. Anyway just blow the mother fuckers up GTA style if they try and stop you. Or bury them under a huge pile of records. :laugh_at:
February 28, 2012 at 5:15 pm #1251180buy a tank!!! DO IT!
March 1, 2012 at 12:38 am #1251187March 1, 2012 at 2:31 am #1251181buy something that the police can’t stop, and if they do, they wouldn’t be able to get in without a plasma cutter or MiG/TiG welder.
I have seen ex soviet vehicles for really very sensible moneys. I have seen some for insane money. a few years ago I saw a 1980’s soviet missile truck, complete with the missile housing unit still attached for £80k, it looked like it was worth £80 not 80k. thing was bloody massive, 8×8 chassis, 4 wheel steering, 8 wheel drive, thing was built to survive -40*c…….wouldn’t have trouble starting it on a cold morning thats for sure.
March 1, 2012 at 3:08 am #1251189I plan on building a large collection of vehicles if I ever get hands on some family fortunes. Zeppelins, planes, tanks. I’ll just skip out on buying a house and live in a submarine.

you have to get the barrel locked in place and i assume have the fireing mech taken out .. but i dunno about the second part.

You need to get a licence to be allowed to drive it, I think, but it’s more like an inspection to make sure it follows all regulations. Nothing actually stops you from purchasing it provided all the documentation is there.

I think the barrel can be free moving still for manovourability, a fixed barrel isn’t much good around a tight corner. Bt yeah, you can’t have the firing pin though, thats frowned upon
March 6, 2012 at 12:09 am #1251191Yeah the barrel can be freed but all the firing mechanisms are removed.
March 8, 2012 at 1:05 am #1251192please warn us all whenever you do actually start driving, i’ll park in the garage
