Basically at the end of my garden there is a about half a ache of waste land what was going to turned into garages but no access was available. So we have been looking after the land for 23 years we have a 2 sheds, a vegtable patch, made a patio etc. But the council will not sell us the land.
Does anyone who if we could claim something like squatters rights?
Thanks JD

if you can prove constant occupation for that length of time you can claim the land under adverse posesssion. Have a good chat with your family and Get a decent solicitor on the case. Bear in mind that if you win the council will be on your case for all manner of other stuff so make sure “your nose is clean” before taking on “The Man..”

you have a very good case go and see a solisitor. its 12 years and its yours bacicly. if you dont get a result over some tiny detail, your solisitor could back the council into selling.
May 25, 2008 at 1:51 pm #1172624I have a similar situation and when I saw a solicitor, he said that the time had gone down to 10 years in my case, so may be the same as yours.
My case is that I need to apply for posessive title. Then after a period I can apply for absolute title.
Hope this helps.
