So how did we all do? ๐
I’ve disspointed myself… Was expecting it though, did pretty shit revision these last exams.. Thankfully it’s sort of averaged itself out over everything…
But I’m not bothered. ๐ I still did OK and it’s not the end of the world xD…

went pretty well.. 2 As and a D. am going to try so hard to push that D up next year but i’ve always had trouble with physics.
you’re right though, not the end of the world!August 18, 2011 at 2:18 pm #1243245I got good o-levels and GCSES (ask your parents what o-levels were) but by 6th form^H^H year 12/13 I only got a D in physics, U in chemistry and N in Maths (21 years ago now!). And I still got into uni for a bit but dropped out as I never wanted to be there in the first place.
I actually am not that good at straight academic work and am far better at practical stuff.

that’s awesome! i met a tree surgeon once at a bus stop. i asked him if he had ever fallen out of a tree and he said no. have you even fallen out of a tree?
i don’t mind ending up with 60k debts, i have a passion for the subjects i want to do and i’d rather go and get my degree than get a job tomorrow in something that i hate and spend the rest of my life miserable and wishing i had chased my dreams whilst i still could. and my dad has been saving up for my uni since i was 6, i don’t think i’ll end up with much debt at all.
August 18, 2011 at 2:58 pm #1243250I got ยฃ170 for 2hrs work after tax in total on tuesday and wednesday mornings…enjoy your tree surgeon work….

You’re welcome to it mate, trees are much less infuriating than celebs, in my limited experience.
Fair enough Hat, I’m in tree surgery because it’s what I want to do, fortunately for me it doesn’t cost the Earth. (well until I have to go self employed anyway).
I’ve never fallen out of a tree, although I’ve had plenty of 20ft.+ drops only to be caught by rope.
August 18, 2011 at 3:21 pm #1243254my mates dad was in a tree cutting it up with a chainsaw and he cut the branch he was on and fell out and had a pretty nasty fall. this is the guy though who is responsible for every nasty scar on my body though for all the crazy dangerous stuff he does!

i bet it’s actually quite a nice job.. being up in the sky with the lovely trees ^.^ i’m really scared of spiders though. do you just cut trees down or is it more complicated than that?
August 18, 2011 at 3:24 pm #1243252I’m quite happy with my work as well, I was not to say that I have better work than you, money do not matter when U love or enjoy your work. And if I had patience to sit in school i probably had done that….
As for celebs I do not care about them i mostly do not see them at all, but if I do I am probably on top and if they do not behave then its no show…cause I am boss more or less…to get where I am now have cost loads of hard work and very long days, and a body the now pay the cost…

plus if you take chainsaws to celebs, it generally results in arrest and being sent to Broadmoor :laugh_at:

I’ve got flexible hours and remote working so I don’t have to cycle in this rain (as I can work from home). if people dial my office extension number and I am not there it goes through to my house automatically – I can even intercept and monitor phone calls from other sites (which I legally am entitled to do as I need to check the technical quality of them and that peopel can hear each other as these systems are used for safety of life purposes).
But it did take about 10-20 years to get the experience to build networked systems like this (it wasn’t learned from college or uni though).
August 18, 2011 at 3:51 pm #1243258fair enough man, if you love you work that’s what really matters.
Hat, tree work is much more complicated, there is a lot of biology involved, what we try to do normally is the most ecological thing, considering species, environment etc.
August 18, 2011 at 3:52 pm #1243259GL why is there no option to like your posts?

it should still be there (at the right hand corner of the bottom of the post). I did find myself logged out this morning which is unusual so Dr B may have been upgrading software in the night and sometimes this makes things shift around on the page.

how come you are doing Physics again though? are you super brainy and did them all a year early (Scottish people do that sometimes with their exams) or are they all different now?
TBH I think I’ve forgotten everything I learned at Physics A level and yet I work with lots of high tech stuff!
August 18, 2011 at 5:32 pm #1243244Anonymous
physics again? i did one a-level early, but i just finished my first year of college so i’ve got another year of all my subjects to go ๐
i’ve forgotten everything about physics from a month ago! for some reason, i can recall the whole of last year’s biology, it just sticks in my head. -
