its brilliant how many new people join here every day or use this site..
but can I make one suggestion to anyone who wants party info….
Please register and say a little bit about yourself in the introductions section [unless of course the registration isn’t working for some reason in which case post details of the problem on the “your feedback, questions and suggestions” forum and we’ll try and fix it]
its not that we are in the habit of accusing all our newbies of being police -cops do read here sometimes at weekends but they either just lurk here or are blatant about telling people how naughty raves are…. but “unregistered” posts from randoms saying “where are all the raves in xxxxx” do look a bit suspicious..
things are changing in the UK and EU
parties which are not in licensed clubs are increasingly becoming private invitation only events – crews are finding that they cannot advertise their partyline numbers openly as they once used to, or events are shut down for being unlicensed public entertainments.
Furthemore, the increasingly violent society means some crews have to be more selective over who gets to hear about parties, to keep the level of trouble down.
you can post “anon” or “unregistered” – perhaps even with your own invented name -but it means everything you post has to be discussed in public, and people can’t send you private messages – they could be party info and invites – or even messages from secret admirers..
and you get space on your profile to say more stuff about yourself or what you like (but you don’t have to say all that stuff if you’re a bit shy like me..) plus a selection of cool pictures to put next to your screen name…
November 1, 2005 at 2:06 pm #1065522Ok…gotcha but you could be a bit more polite on this forum. I’ve registered, sent one message to you an’ someone else an’ put a real stupid post in the Aztek crew part but that was a really big STUPID mistake that I made before I read things properly but that’s it! I do understand that you have to be careful about these things so don’t think I’m saying what you’re doing is stupid but it’s just you could be a bit more polite an’ actually reply to stuff…Even if it’s a few quick lines
November 1, 2005 at 3:24 pm #1065520we do try and welcome as many new registered users as possible, I think at least one of the other mods or users on here said hello..
you’re obviously eager to get to a decent event and feel that you are missing out or being ignored – but thats not the case and it wasn’t because no-one trusted you ; it really has been a bit quieter recently in London and the SE compared to previous seasons and people are getting bare hassle from all quarters, cops, robbers/muggers/gangs….
until recently free parties were fairly thin on the ground in the London and SE areas apart perhaps from some ones which aren’t really safe to go to.
crews also do not speak about some events until perhaps a couple of hours before they happen… by which time most users are away from computers. the partylines keep changing (often because people get moosed and mislay phones or sim cards)
also ppl have normal jobs and worse still many employers are either blocking bits of this site (including individual threads!), monitoring its use or making it slower than work-related sites, so it becomes harder to post here during the week.
if too much info goes out things get stopped; OTOH if you say on the internet “there aren’t many free parties in some areas” or “there is trouble” you get accused of being “overly pessimistic” or “spreading despondency” and sometimes it just seems better to keep quiet.
I know what its like to be young in London want to party and feel like you are missing out; this is how I got started on the scene back in the early 90s (the net wasnt being used to spread info then), and how London can be an unfriendly place..
I also feel sorry for a lot of younger people who are having to deal with a larger “climate of paranoia” than there used to be as the anti-party backlash increases, although this board is friendly even here people still are a bit shy as well of talking to new people (even at parties they tend to stay with people they know).
I’d like this to change as well but I can’t force other people to interact..
PS: there are a fair number of licensed underground events in the London area such as “re-rave all” with a smaller admission charge than mainstream clubs, look on our pay parties section. a lot of free party heads attend these as well.. these are good places to meet new people and get partylines etc…

now to exchange info it depends on the wider user community here trusting one another and sending on the messages. its difficult in an increasingly dodgy world (even if you go to a party nowadays people don’t always welcome newcomers like they used to) but has to be done to keep the party alive.
