but we aint got it bad have we really eh….December 12, 2007 at 11:25 am #1126614you’re always going to get this argument with everything. What for someone who’s new to the scene is ‘amazing’ is ‘not so good as it used to be’ for an old hand. That’s why grandparents bang on about the good old days!…………. Basically, ‘back then’ it was fresh, and parties were bigger. These days there’s still wicked parties, just on smaller scale. Having said that Ketamine not the greatest party tipple in the world…..

i wouldn’t say it’s better now, or worse now. it’s different, but from speakin to older ravers they mostly say some aspects are better some are worse.

December 16, 2007 at 8:03 pm #1126605Back in the day, everybody used to go on about how much better it was back in the day. Some things never change!

Ob gets a complaint, in a few minutes the problem is sorted. The person who was disturbed goes back to sleep confident that everything is under control and safe. Everyone is a winner, the rig gets to go home on sunday and all because a little give and take…
This assumes that everyone going into the above situation has no preconceptions about each other. Law makers and abiders have it drummed into that “ravers have no respect for personal property” “drugs are a social disease” “young people are a danger to the old” etc, while many friends of mine feel that “cops are all assholes who can’t wait to beat you up” with good reason. The tension of these beliefs needs to be dissolved before you can even begin ‘cooperating’ with the police and public.
Having said that the crew at parties I’ve been to try their best to placate and often succeed, but hysteria sometimes prevails.

December 17, 2007 at 12:43 am #1126610i’d agree boothy, the drug ive seen do the most damage in my life is alcohol, as a result i barely touch the stuff. and i think the only bad/damaging habit i have is smoking, wish id never started..
both are the two main legal drugs in our country, their highly addictive, and i can get hold of in 2 mins from a shop. yet getting some decent pills or mdma at times can be nearly impossible…
is all a bit back to front if you ask me
p.s. @ GE, i agree with u to a certian extent mate, ppl seem to be doing it younger and younger, an then also probaly stopping sooner. went out ravin a few weeks back and got talkin to this girl, she was only 15, seemed pretty clued up, but shes got her gcses cumin up next year. goin out ravin on the weekend and then back to school mon? is nuts… i dont judge ppl for anythin that they do really but i didnt go to my first rave till i was 17, id left school, and it wasnt until i was 18-19 that i got into doin it every weekend….
i reckon if your 15-16 you should leave it a couple of years tbh, wait until you got your qualificatons and your body/brain has finished developin etc. would most defitnly last longer, i plan on being hardcore till i die (and i aint plannin on doin that anytime soon, and tbh it wouldnt be the ravin that did it, more likely legals drugs as mentioned^)

December 17, 2007 at 12:55 am #1126581I was doing drugs at 15 and also through sixth form (or whatever it is called nowadays) but nowhere near the quantities todays teenagers can get as drigs cost more in the 80s and were harder to get. TBH it hasn’t harmed me all that much. it didn’t kill me or “bramage my dain” but I didn’t get very good post-16 qualifications..
Today I still work in a management position and get the same salary as qualified people but there were a few times when I had to “sort my life out” a bit and calm down on what I was doing..
I think though there is way more pressure on todays youth, it seems that everyone is expected to get good grades and go uni even if they don’t want to – if not they have to do 12 hour days to compete with all the foreign workers if they work in construction trades…. then when drugs are easier to get and cheaper it does seems easy in this current climate to cane your mind and body way too early and burn out…
when I was a youth there was a record called “too much too young” and I think this still applies today (but with more drugs involved)
