I’m fairly certain similar zones exist in loads of other EU nations and/or have done so for years, if anything London blagged a exemption / delay for a few years and I really cannot believe folk in nations often much poorer than ours are scrapping serviceable vehicles or simply shelling out thousands of Euros to get them in line. What has more likely happened is that vehicle dealers, mechanics and motor enthusiasts and the government have all worked together to provide a good solution for a fair price. I can’t remember what make Gertie is but if she is from Northern Europe there must be an easier solution.
In Germany even the gary boys work together with the national Traffic authority and ensure their modded vehicles are safe and they do not drive like idiots. OK on autobahn there is no speed limit but thats because folk there don’t take the piss.

you tried dipenhydramine?
I was regularly dosed up with it as a kid (until about 1983 or so) and various other preparations but for legit medical reasons, had asthma which is potentially life threatening (thankfully this disappeared after puberty). It now appears to be completely taken off the British formulary (the list of approved medicines the NHS and other UK health providers can have) so I guess must have to come from foreign sources.
I’m fairly sure at least one OTC antihistamine still sold at Asda was one of the old style kinds what could be used as a comedown/sleep aid but most appear to be contraindicated (discouraged) nowadays due to concerns from cops and NHS. Not even so much about recreational use, but because otherwise hard working, law abiding people take them for valid health reasons, then get in their cars and crash due to delayed reactions (despite the fairly prominent warnings on the packet)

Dipenhydramine are the chemical Nytols, they are sold in all pharmacies in the UK. They are very powerful on me and KO me and trip me out when falling asleep. Sad thing is even 10 hours later i’m still feeling Zombified from them so i try not to take them at all but do have them sitting around at all times just in case i wanna KO.

No. Those who are trying it are simply getting contempt of court charges added on to their traffic violations, or even ending up being assesed for mental health!
The whole thing is a rather bizzare misinterpretation of various laws by old men without real legal knowledge but beef with the “system”. That group has links with the extreme right (BNP, EDL, even that Norway nutter what shot up the kids) as well and also comes from a American group what led to people getting killed (both cops and civillians) as one felt he had the right to fire upon cops rather than surrender to a routine traffic stop,
I appreciate TG’s situation (its one reason I still don’t drive, and though the new test is a pain I could afford to and even buy a decent motor car) – and like you I failed my test first attempt fairly narrowly in 1993! – my driving wasn’t perfect by any standards but another examiner would have passed me – so I even appreciate why folk drive illegaly.
I also got arrested a couple of times shortly after this for various reasons (non violent but still crime) and was as you would expect angry at the system. Had I not still lived at the family home then and had a very supportive family who helped me through it I would have moved out to somewhere nearer London, bought a modest car and a radio scanner and taken my anger out on the system by wheeling and dealing (even if I got a normal day job). I might even have become your smack dealer, you’d have been even more likely to get a habit as I’d be the friendly Asian chap who gave you time to pay rather than the sketchy jumped up plastic gangster dealers. Hence the modest car – there wasn’t very good ANPR back then and so feds went on gut feelings, a flash car got stopped but a small one left alone.
One Asian chap from West London, about my age, got away with heroin dealing for many years (eventually getting very high up in a import/distribution network) before metpol and SOCA caught up with him simply because he drove a small Nissan and otherwise behaved well, and the feds were all looking out for angry Muslims with links to Al-Quaeda selling smack as a “terrorist tactic” – this chap was completely below the radar.

think that’s a bit harsh and judgmental. I’ve seen some of the things they do and it’s quite informative knowing how the police make up laws to try and touch you up in a stupid search when you do not need to consent to that crap.

very unusual for an English one selling currently tolerated substances. Its far more of a crime to rob peoples money than it is to sell the chemicals. At very least they will lose their card processing facility or have their funds frozen, at worst the business can be closed down and the owners arrested and brought before Court.
That said I believe you aren’t 18 yet so might not have a credit card. These have even better protection as rather than “your” money its a big bank the idiots are trying to steal from, backed up all the way by SOCA and other private investigative agencies.

Yes cops might try and fit you up if you don’t know the law or let them but within these supposedly “alternative” organisations which are superficially attractive to young people (including a friend of mine) there are definite links with hard right groups and other groups who are very much anti useful things like the NHS or any public sector at all simply due to their existence.
Just because some (not all) might say they would like to see drugs legalised doesn’t mean they are a good force in society, no more than any other extremists such as hardcore Muslims. I’m sure there are plenty of Al-Quaeda lads what like a spliff or a hit of heroin as well..
They are much more harsh and judgemental about those they disagree with (to the point of being prepared to use physical violence if they can get away with it) even than the Police and actual appointed judges!
The so-called “politicallly correct nanny state” is why people get away in the EU with regular drugs use and are treated fairly leniently. I remember the days before it. The countries which are much more closer to the “common law and free market” they advocate are the Asian ones (what used to be UK colonies) where they hang people for drugs.

so what you’re trying to tell me is that freemans are all violent thugs who are dogmatic about what they believe in and beat up police? if so that just sounds ridiculous!

I think this is what is really pissing me off – as it seems that the only help they are giving is to the like of companies of fleet vehicle with doing deals with all the bigguns like merc / vw etc
and us ‘normal’ people are having to scrape together thousands (2k is the cheapest as its a low mileage one – some are 3.5K) to keep thier vehicles legal with no help – and I am lucky Gertie isnt associated with my income / work – I really feel for small independent companies who may not be able to upgrade all their vehicles etc
And the thing I really dont understand is how come it has reached my area as we arnt london, I can totally understand it being in central london / the bigger cities with congestion etc and then prehaps opening it up on a gradual basis to the suburbs as I have said I am not in disagreement with the ethics behind it.
Hey ho, Marcus is still investigating our plan, so keep yer fingers crossed for us 😛
