I can’t work out why people do this to their so-called friends. Fair enough not answering calls from strangers or muppets trying to sell you things, but if its not a silly time of day to be telephoning and you are both actual friends, why do this? At least say to the other person you’re busy and they can call later (or send a text) rather than just ignore them… especially as in some cases it can make folk worried that something has happened to their friend..
i hardly ever answer the phone unless i’m expecting the call, it’s really bad 🙁 it drives my dad crazy. i think its just cos i’ll either get the call/text and decide to text back later and i forget or i’m just not in the mood for human contact unless it’s face to face.
but it does make me mad when people don’t answer their phone to me ^_^June 6, 2011 at 6:20 pm #1150174Anonymous@General Lighting 438386 wrote:

Mungothe cops would always send the heli out to raves even 10-15 years ago and for this reason tried not to use the light as they knew it would be providing a beacon to the rave – until Airwave came along I’d just use my scanner and when the control room gave out the grid reference to the cops if we weren’t at the party already we’d use it as a locator as well :laugh_at:
one big reason why 90s/2000s raves rarely got busted in summer is the VHF radios the cops then used picked up French and other foreign telly soundtracks and the cops couldn’t go in without good comms because of health and safety rules..

June 6, 2011 at 6:36 pm #1150112Hi General Lighting ,
Its funny you say about comms being messed up , where i used to work we used to get the Spannish fisheries agency over our radio net !!!!! . Wouldnt mind but we was in the UK at the time , some thing to do with atmospherics …..reckon you might have more of a clue than me but its radio waves bouncing off of something and travelling further . That and the station just up the A1 some times we get crossed transmissions lol . I remember once when i was in the control room hearing a vehicle call rtb ( return to base ) and i looked left and the vehicle was there and hadnt been out !!! lucky i didnt log it lol . It turned out it was the station up the road , but now most radio’s are secure so its theoretically impossible to listen in !!!! .Regards

Although Airwave and TETRA are secure, there is stil a risk that enough interference (whether natural or man made) willactually knock the whole bloody lot out (as the radios won’t be able to sign on to base) rather than just allow unwanted transmissions to occur. I am not sure how much thought the govt has given to this risk (which is well known in most techie circles).
I hope that the blue light Services have kept at least some of the old kit for backup just in case, or they might really be in a pickle especially when/if the solar storms start happening..
