yeah man just take off the people you dont get on with, problem solved. Or you can just click ignore on their posts and block them on chat if it creates less friction.

June 2, 2011 at 10:16 pm #1130462In tears after watching the panornama program on winterbourne care home
where the clients were not at all being cared for but tortured, abused and humiliated
I completely understand L.D clients are fucking hard work (been there, done it) but if you dont have empathy, care, compassion, patience and love – you need to fuck off and work at tescos. what an evil bunch of sad, dehumanised, psycho’s,
and how it was only one!!!! member of staff who reported it is beyond belief – or is it because this sort of work attracts some evil incompetent fuckers who want to work with the vulnerable so they feel a sense of power and control over others as they are so weak they can not find it in any other area of their lives I dont know…. 😥
I only hope that if I were to ever see anything like that and not get an immediate answer from the bosses I would go straight to the police, fuck my own job, hoping this would never be the case but I would hope so
I must say we have been so lucky with the carers of my aunt who have been wonderful despite her illness and everything it entails – she’s in her new nursing home and also so far so good

June 2, 2011 at 10:29 pm #1129278where I work we are really on the lookout for this sort of stuff but even then there is CCTV and other surveillance available if required and the senior management though are always checking up on things. That said we do well as there is background checking of prospective employees and their attitudes whilst on the job are closely monitored and scrutinised.
However I think people (especially those from overseas cultures where elders are respected) actually have much more respect for the older generation than they might do for patients the same age as them and unfortunately I’ve seen evidence that a few younger folk have taken jobs in healthcare what blatantly shouldn’t. I’m hesitant to say that they are deliberately seeking out these particular job to control others but they would do it in any job and they need to be weeded out at a early stage in their careers.
I have the job of looking after the surveillance aspect when it relates to stuff like use of IT and telecoms which means that I have few friends at work other than senior management, but I don’t go to work to make friends..

June 2, 2011 at 10:39 pm #1130463I have worked / volunteered in this sort of industry (L.D, mental and physical disability, mental health, elderly ) since age 13, and on the whole have worked with fantastic caring individuals, however have reported some evil fuckers to management (and thankfully got immediate results) but it is totally unacceptable, and there always is a place for fun and laughs but not at someones expense, I always go with – ‘how would I like to be treated’. I really am shocked at what I have seen tonight – it goes back to real institutionalised abuse – which unfortunatley still goes on in alot of care homes I imagine….

June 2, 2011 at 10:46 pm #1129279its a problem in the more impersonal ones run from London/SE England and I guess maybe in Northern cities as well but where I work its a very close knit family business and the clients and staff (obviously other than those from PH, IN , ID etc!) are all from the same areas… where I work someone who doesn’t have the right attitude isn’t gonna last long anyway…
