Just got back from therapy and been told the service I was pinning my hopes on that helps people find a job has had its funding taken away. Fucking wonderful. This will just make finding a job 10 times harder. Not a happy bunny.

I am on incapacity just finished a year long course of therapy twice a week for my depression. Idea was that MIND would help me sort out a CV, do a bit of volunteering to get some confidence and some stability. Then in say 3 months help me find a job and stuff. The shaw trust might be able to help we will have to see.

November 5, 2010 at 4:15 am #1149804The last thing I had a massive rant at was my ex-boss, it one of this god awful “sales” companies run by guy’s in the 30’s who said they all make 100 grand a year, but the office was above a sex shop. I got the job after a 3 working day interview, then went straight to work, 6 days a week 50 hours every week going around selling any old rubbish to people who just wanted to be left alone. Everymoring we would have to all go in the main room, what they called “The Pod”, and listen to this 24 year old “sales genius” give some cringe worthy speech to make go and sell more, no work contract’s so they didn’t have to pay us, a buissness plan that made no sense and a sales team that thought they landed the best job in the world, earning about £80 a week for 50hrs work, couldn’t stand it, was there only a month before I had a massive shouting match with the manager and told him to get stuffed, didn’t get paid, no record of my employment so the Job Centre were pissed. Looked into them, the only offical record of their existence is a broken website, god I hated the fact that everyone who worked there thought they hit the jackpot, as they came out of the sex shop entrance and spent their daily earning on the train home, gah I was months ago but it still makes me angry just thinking about it.

November 6, 2010 at 5:03 pm #1131893😥 TAA Manchester 2010 has been postponed due to issues with finding a suitable building and other logistic issues 😥
not really a rant, more of a sob. best thing is definatly to postpone if the right building cant be found. lets hope the issue is resolved soon.
glad i wasnt planning a major art installation..

you’re intelligent and your body is all in one piece and you can drive, so I expect the giro will probably feel you are “worth saving” ….

shame – but how come there’s nothing about this on indymedia / schnews etc and the forum for this has been lunched out and attacked by Chinese spammers? what does exist on the usual places relates to a similar incident two years ago.
if this incident had been more widely publicised you might have got more support / solidarity and raised awareness…
burying / denying bad news is not good no matter who does it…

subterraneanartbrighton.org? what happened was- brighton has hosted 3 TAA’s in total. the first 2 were organised by someone who didnt want anything to do with this years TAA (because last one she did caused her much stress and at the time of this years was having family problems and felt she couldnt commit), so i took over the role as main organiser. The domain was set up by the previous organisers brother who gave her a discount because they were family and he worked in IT. We did meet up and all the usernames and passwords and such was passed onto me but we didnt change the account details but i guess the the domain has been hacked.. i only noticed this a couple of weeks ago. because TAA failed this year (apparently we were stealing electricity) to be honest after the event i kind of brushed it all under the carpet, like you said, and wanted to forget about it. Fundraising was stressful enough to get the money back.
radio 4A lost most of their equipment, i have no idea why SCHnews or indymedia didnt cover the story.. I was in the offices earlier today, next time im there ill mention it as find out exactly whyNovember 6, 2010 at 6:37 pm #1168178@General Lighting 405402 wrote:

this is the other domain. some bits are active but the forum needs a moderator to be on top of stuff like the chinese spam. for instance on here we get about 3 attempts every day.
unfortunately the cops enter places and arrest on suspicion of stealing electric (I’ve been nicked this way before!) – they can also claim health and safety risks and EDF / UK Power Networks work alongside the Police and private security guards to deal with stuff like this.
in recent times they often can and do use this as a way of getting the place back (also some new guidelines against anti-social behaviour).

ahh right thats the national TAA forum your on about.. i dont exactly know who takes care of that website other than its the london Random Artists crew.. they are pretty slack with updating the site thats for sure.. not all of brightons informations was updated this year which i think is why we didnt have a massive turnout from people outside of brighton.
how do you think squatting in general will be in say 5-10 years? do you think we will be following in footsteps of NL? brighton is becoming increasingly hard to squat. but i think this could be because of the link to activism such as EDO/ITT.. whereas London/Bristol/Manchester and other places have biggers issues ie gangs/crime and just leave it up to the courts to deal with. -
