June 5, 2010 at 1:01 pm #1145645Empty house all night, misses is away, weather is lovely and the best option I have is to have a few beers and sit on the internet. The better I feel the more I realise how much damage being ill has done. Just want to go out with some mates have a few beers or something, not sit in the house on my own all damn afternoon/evening with nothing to do, again. *moan moan moan*
I also got a puncture today, and the misses did yesterday so hardly ridden in 2 days, really annoying.

I’m ok today mate. I was a wee bit pissed last night and in a bit of a mood.
The sun has cured that though.

TBH its been like that for me, all my local mates have been out of the country for months, my local got closed down by the feds, and other friends are dealing with heavy personal stuff so no one here’s partying any more.. the rest of my mates live 25-50 miles away and Ipswich town isn’t the most pleasant of places to be of an evening..
Why not fix the punctures? if they are rear wheel ones and you are worried about getting the chain back on in the right way just look at sheldon browns website or loads of others and they show you.

Its rubbish isnt it, trying to except the situation rather than let it bother me but I really miss having a social life. And it just seems like the option is to either be sensible and have few mates (the one I am going with) or get back into raving seriously and have lots more mates and go out all the time (but with the obvious massive problems that entails with me and my budget).
The bikes at my parents house, going over tomorrow to fix the puncture and then I have got 2 new tires (good quality reinforced to protect from punctures, 25 quid each good brand jobs (German make?)) to put on as the ones that came with the bike seem quite poor (the bike was only 120 quid from halfords). Also got myself a bum bag to fill with tire leavers, spare inntertube, puncher repair kid, spanner, alen key etc. No more mucking about!
My dad has one of those big how to do everything books on bikes so I will sit with that and work through it all, get it in tip top shape.

TBH my mates are still around but everyones having to reassess their lives at the moment for various reasons..
At least there isn’t a beer shortage! there was one in my area a week ago, the Co-op wholly run out of Adnams – even worse considering where I live!
I had to drink Co-op Best Bitter for a week – it wasn’t as bad as I feared but I really did feel like I had turned into Grandad. Worse still, even both my grandads on the Indian and Chinese sides of the family would have had better beer to drink in 1950s Malaya!, usually Tiger beer. (draught beer is much less common in SE Asia, the heat and notoriously unreliable electricity supply in everywhere apart from Singapore means that it will be very expensive to keep a decent cellar at correct temperature…)
