dont worry – everyone has their own morals and things that piss em off,
I dont know this story but I’m guessing from above posts if he showed genuine remorse he would be deemed in a much better light – lack of remorse is a really bad thing in the court room.I do however believe we should be responsible for what we do when intoxicated – yeh I’ve done silly things when drunk – but I have to acknowlege and take responsibilty for whatever – its not an excuse

November 26, 2009 at 7:42 pm #1129104thing is he pissed over a poppy wreath and unless he’s actually half-blind its fucking obvious what the purpose of the wreath is to any decent British citizen…
if he had been Asian or Muslim (ok he wouldn’t have been drinking but lets say he was just caught short for whatever reason) there would have probably been a near riot or he would have been physically attacked by other bystanders
I think the sentence was just as he will have to watch his back for squaddies and right wing types anyway for the rest of his days, even when he is middle aged as they won’t forgive and forget…

hence the term blind drunk I guess. Sounds like he got a fairly decent punishment though that will pay back the community to an extent. Tricky situation stuff like I think because s as people have said being drunk doesn’t excuse ones actions, but it is a reason.

because when your drunk you are unaware of what you are doing, parts of your brain shut down. He had no intent to cause offence, was desperately upset at what he had done when he was informed. We have all done things drunk that we would never ever do soba, some more shameful than others. Plus the jails are all full 😉
If he had done it with intent I would possibly agree with a more harsh penalty.
I’m gathering that the offence committed here would be that of ‘urinating in a public place’ as I assume there is no specific crime about urinating on war memorials..

November 27, 2009 at 7:47 pm #1131270Personally i believe the lad has been punished enough now. Vilified by the whole nation, made enemy number 1, been given 250 hours community service.
I’d say that’s punishment enough now but you know what people are like. Love jumping on the bandwagon, we all love a villain don’t we.
