June 10, 2005 at 8:43 am #1065921I enjoyed last night!! I hope it sounded good though as I got a little carried away with drinking and friends.
I missed most of what was going on in the chatroom. If I have people over again I think i’ll pay a bit more attention though.
Unfortunately the oddcast didn’t do what it was supposed to and now I have no recording of the show. So I hope someone else managed to catch it.
SDZ: What could I be doing wrong for oddcast not to make an MP3. I’ve done the show 3 times now and it’s only worked 1 out of 3. As far as I know I hadn’t done anything differently the time it did work. All settings were exactly the same each time too.

Strange. To be honest ive never really used the oddcast recording function myself. I either use sound forge to record the “Stereo Mix” or StreamRipper. I have heard that other crews on Level 1 have had success with it but as you say the problem is intermittent. Try the other suggestions to get the mix recorded, you should find one that works for you.
Saturday BBQ tunes sounding niiice btw 🙂

🙁Ive ping’d all the listeners and there is one user (perhaps yourself) who has a ping of ~300 which would cause stuttering. The server is hosted in the US and if the ping is high it can cause issues.
Your welcome to try connecting to my UK (still experimental) server which would probably give you a better quality stream :

Let me know if its any better ?

Great thanks for posting this alternative link, seems I can connect from work which I can’t do with the other so I’m chuffed… is it pernmanent?

I relay the connection from the US server to my UK one but ideally i would like to get it so that the streaming crew connected the source to the UK server then the US server pulls a relay across (at the moment its the other way round).
The new software im testing allows radio listing in the winamp media library (radio section) with 50 listeners or more and permanently on shoutcast.com. I hope to have the UK server for local people to listen in and all our international friends could use the US server. Should distribute the load more and offer alternatives to people with skipping/stuttering problems. Not forgetting the extra listeners shoutcast.com would bring in.

I didn’t want to use Soundforge as my MP3 plug in isn’t active and recording the whole lot in WAV seems a bit of a strain on the system.
cheers!
