why is it that the party scene is dominated by white people? i find it very rare to see black people at partys and i cant clock why this would be really, its not suprising i jsut cant see why it happens like this when everyone likes dancing and feilds?

Perhaps its because the black and Asian population are more concentrated in larger cities, and so are just city kids? I think some parts of the countryside can be quite alien and intimidating places to some ethnic minorities, becuase of the reaction they get or think they may get.

August 18, 2008 at 6:07 pm #1177898when I was in high school and college I noticed the exact same thing but it was 15-20 years ago…
although some prefer the “urban” music scene (grime/RnB etc) with more fashion/bling etc it may also be the case a lot of black and asian people don’t go out at weekends/nights at all – many youths have strict parents who discourage them strongly also I know a lot of my black friends go church on Sunday so obviously can’t get too mashed!
Many others are working weekends and nights and just too knackered or can’t afford it – same goes for a lot of other minorities or immigrants, I speak to the new staff from Hungary / Romania at my work and they all like music etc but dont’ have time or money to even go to pubs or clubs..
Some rural areas aren’t so bad, I work in a proper bumpkin area and never have much hassles, and the East Anglian party scene is (or was) very multicultural, there are people from all over the world
August 18, 2008 at 7:30 pm #1177914it proberly depends on where they live and there intrests. not everyone enjoys raving but i know what you mean, black/asian mates that i have are usally more into clubbing but where i live clubbing is more popular that free parties. i think all london is like that. bloody hell, i can really go on sometimes i’ll shut up now:laugh_at:.

when I went to my first decent outdoor raves in East Anglia there was a very diverse crowd, I thought I’d be one of the only non-white people there but there was a fair few and some were part of the crews or friends of them, never had any hassle unlike Ipswich at night where you have to watch yourself..
the strict parents thing is a big issue though, (at least when you are younger still living with them or near them) and also if you end up dealing with cops
ironically its linked, now its not like “life on mars” days when cops would target and rough up ethnic minorities – they’ve been taught “cultural awareness” and they use exactly the same guilt trips on you like what your parents would use and do stuff like (against privacy rules) tell your family what you’ve been arrested for even if you are an adult..

he sayd theres a racial divide at partys and theres very few non white people at events. thats rubbish free partys reflect the ethnic balence of the uk very well and always have.
