Ok I’m sticking my neck out here, and some of you may want to cut me for it but I’m finding it difficult to like psytrance. I resisted dubstep for years and it’s recently got a slight hold on me. Still predominantly into hardstyle and dirty hard grimy beats on the techno/dance front. For me personally psytrance lacks the climax or peak. This is probs down to listening to it on stims. The one artist I quite like is Fungus Funk. Can anyone recommend some artists or tunes I should check out and should I be doing tryptamines to this genre?

October 31, 2012 at 11:59 pm #1261015For some reason i dont find psytrance psychedelic. As in i dont hear the trippyness in it. for me psychedelic music would be like..radioheads later stuff and sigur ros and stuff like the velvet underground.
For me psytrance is just really fun and dancy 🙂

I for example can’t stand the majority of dubstep as it just seems to be so soulless.
It’s all a matter of taste mate. It wouldn’t do for everyone to like the same thing now would it?

Psytrance hasn’t been psychedelic for years. Now it’s just a variation of of hard house / techno / trance, a hypnotic grove and little more.
Psychedelic music should challenge you, surprise you, make you wonder what the fuck is going on. Psytrance is generic, repetitive, and it all sounds the same. There is nothing psychedelic about it.
