so, back to djprocess’ question… a caution 8 years ago or getting arrested and let off won’t show up on an enhanced CRB check.

but as GL says, if you’re going for some kind of national security job, they might have ways of finding out

EDIT: cautions before the age of 18 don’t show

yea, i work with kids and i was totally honest on the disclosure, about selling weed and puttin on raves, then when the (enhanced) CRB came back it was clean as a whistle! so i felt a little dumb tellling them all, but at the same time its nice to be honest, it means i have nothing to hide. well, almost :groucho:

thank the tao for spent cautions, eh?

I have a quite long criminal record from my younger days i never had admit any of it. Never had one of these full checks though don’t think i’d want to by the sound of them.

not true, i got CRB’d recently for an IT job and shitloads of stuff came up from when i was 15/16/17. oops!

not true, i got CRB’d recently for an IT job and shitloads of stuff came up from when i was 15/16/17. oops!

I didnt think normal job s could do checks that show up spent convictions?

they can if the IT job is any place where you may have direct contact with vulnerable people or access to their personal records and requires enhanced CRB

i CRB checked myself and nothing before I was 18 came up

ive only been asked for my CRB after being offered the job (in one case i’d worked a week in close contact with vulnerable persons until it was asked for), this is only in healthcare and work with kids NOT shopwork etc.

some convictions never get wiped… section 1 offenses (eg. assaulting a minor)

When I got cautioned, i wasn’t told how long it would be until it was spent, but the cop told me it wouldn’t affect me getting a job. Would it still show up on this CRB thing (It was a couple of months ago)? And how long is it generally until cautions are spent?
