What to do I have no Idea. Maybe talking to this guy is a bad Idea. I dont think so, but I dont think I know enough to comment on It. But Im commenting more on people’s attitude.
well, you may be interpreting my comment as a defeatest attitude, but my copncerns are mainly about how i get parties on without gettin my hard earned soundsystem confiscated, something that i’ve been managing to do for years.
maybe you could scrimp and save, then slowly build your own system up, and then talk to these folk when you’re doin a party?April 30, 2008 at 3:13 pm #1219253AnonymousWhat to do I have no Idea. April 30, 2008 at 6:03 pm #1161393on that note just because someone has a press card it won’t stop the cops taking away your flashy broadcast quality camera and/or demanding the hard drives out of your AVID – and it won’t matter for shit that all your clients ad projects are also on those drives
they have already done this to BBC manchester a few years back when some of the youth TV lot were being a bit too “rave friendly” in what they were filming – and other freelancers working for various media places were similarly treated
or they may say “we won’t take away your kit if you let us have your untransmitted footage”, and what will the filmmaker sacrifice, several grands worth of possibly hired kit or his/her integrity?
I don’t even mean here to imply its all a stitch up but I know how a lot of low budget projects are made – the camera op is often a freelancer and paid for the equipment out of their own pocket. The Insurance policies for such equipment cover some risks but not seizure by law enforcement as otherwise the insurance company could be accused of funding criminals. That camera is their livelihood, and even if they lose this gig keeping the kit means they can get loads of other less risky work like advert shoots and corporate videos. What do you all think a lot of them will do?

maybe you could scrimp and save, then slowly build your own system up, and then talk to these folk when you’re doin a party?Mate. Sounds like you are taking offense to what I said. I told you I didnt mean it like that. I DONT know what its like to own a rig, or to srimp and save.
I specially tried to make my post as though I wasn’t saying what was right or wrong to do, or how you should feel. And you are right, it is my perception of how people were posting. But more as an invite to add more to the conversation. You dont ask you dont learn.

whats the idea here?
that you split the banana down the middle and then reassemble it, so the next person opens it and gets a ready made banana split?
or you fill the skin with random non-fruit type items?
both of these actually have significant comedy value and would do far more positive things for society than yet another rave documentary.

Ok, I wrote this quickly, because I was on my break and had to get back to work, so I summarised. Hehe.
Reading through the thread again, I actually wasn’t even necessarily referring to your post. Or even necessarily in this thread. Just a general attitude that’s all.
Now I am young. And I wasn’t around for the beginning of it all. But I am here now, and involved just like everyone else here. The only thing I can hope to do right now Is just to learn about. I have been thinking, and I think now I cant make a viable opinion, because I dont know all the facts, i havent even seen all the angles yet.
All I know Is that I love the free party scene. The atmosphere, the people, the vibes and the community, at least with most free partiers.
Im repeating this one, but because I think Its important, I don’t know if Its a good or bad Idea to be filmed by this bloke. Im not saying I have an answer, or even a right one. I just think Its important to be positive, even when the end result seems inevitable.
Maybe the only thing to do for most of is, is just encourage people to tidy up, co operate mostly with the law, when we obviously cannot win sometimes. Leaving things as we left. Seems obvious to everyone on here i bet, but Its getting every other fucker to do It. I was gonna make another thread about this, because Ive been thinking at work. Some of my mates are disrespectful cunts sometimes, and dont understand the whole picture. How should I get them to understand without falling out over it? Anyone else have similar problems?
